OK.... dude... Blues fan to fellow Blues Fan....
I know you hate the Red Wings. I do too. All Blues fans do. I get it. Really. But c'mon... Bandwagon??? Really?!?!? They've only been on this little run for A QUARTER OF A CENTURY!!!
Let's be reasonable. You're a Blues fan... you're smarter than that... - BluesFan44
hey i can dream cant i? i dont seriously think the wings will get dissolved, but they will definitely be hurting for attendance when the on ice performance drops off. |

I just want to say to everyone that I think it's great that a conversation like this has stayed quite respectful into it's third page!! Kudos to you all! Now what about a Canadian team going? Can no one envision a scenario where this would happen? |

Yea, when oil is lesser used the oilsands of northern Alberta will begin to not matter so much, therefore causing the city of Edmonton to need help, snowballing into a lack of a franchise for the "city of champions" |

The League forces Toronto to disband because they are getting tired of 6 straight cups and they think it's only fair to let somebody else win it? |

I did a few posts ago, if the Canadian dollar sinks, but while the Canadian dollar is over .80, even the weakest teams financially (Sorry to kick Edmonton while they are going through a recruitment problem, and Ottawa) can generate enough revenue to keep them in the top-24. They won't be making Leaf/Hab type of revenue, but I can't see them being in the bottom six or eight while the CAD is this high (Or, I should sadly say, while the USD is so low).
Plus, as much as I love to bash Bettman, I truly believe he would do everything to prevent a "make it five" campaign. (If for no other reason than to avoid trying to explain it to Ron Maclean on HNIC).
But, I am looking through Canadian lenses, so I may be wrong. Thoughts? |

Atlanta. Management in shambles. Low fan interest. Lousy attendance
Phoenix. How can you keep losing money. The bleeding has to stop. Let Balsillie move the team already.
Florida. One team in Florida maybe.
Tampa. No. No teams in Florida
New York Islanders. Low attendance. JT is going to give them a small boost. This is my riskiest pick because they could turn it around.
Nashville: It doesn't have the cash to do it right. The on ice team is great, they just can't put bums in seats. Another low attendance figure.
Buffalo relocates to Hamilton. Solves the Sabers biggest problem not enough cash to keep it's players.
If I could I'd relocate one of the teams into Southern Ontario, But I believe Bettman and the other owners are too greedy and just want the expansion fee.
Then I would have to pick another team and it would be Colorodo. Sakic is gone.
The decisions get tough around 5 and 6.

I like it. Relegate the team to the AHL like they do in soccer. |

Carolina - If you are an NHL team and you are in the playoffs and still losing money you should not be an NHL team
Atlanta - If you have only made the playoffs once in team history and have done nothing to endear any fan following in a not hockey market you should not be in the NHL.
Phoenix - If you are in bankruptcy court and play in a city where more people are interested in watching Spga tour events then you should not be in the NHL
Tampa Bay, Panthers - If you are a team in florida and only have had one memorable season to speak of in your history then you should not be in the NHL.
New York Islanders - If your team viability depends on the approval of a monstrous development that will be funded through public money and a crazy owner then you are SOL and there are two other teams in the area that are better then you should not be in the NHL
Finally Nashville should move to Canada.

People that think Buffalo should be out don't know fuc k about hockey. We have been in the top 5 in attendance since the lockout. Over 5,000 people have payed 100 dollers on the season tickit waiting list. Our season tickits are up to 15,000 know and you would rather get rid of a team that has never won yet still shows passion for thier team. If you lived here you would know but seriously we love, breath, sleep, and eat hockey here just like a Canadien team. But the 13,000 crowds on the Island are great, so is Carolina and there fan base. If you truly believe Buffalo should be out then you prob need a reality check or something because then you don't know what's right for hockey. If Pitt is still a team then BUFFALo will always be a team. They are hockeytown USA along w Minn, DEt, and Philly. We are holding the wjc in 2010 and hosted the first winter classic but according to some really stupid fans on this board we don't deserve a team more then Tampa or Florida. This is a complete JOKE! |

No I do not. Compare the numbers from 06, after the lockout, to 07 right after winning the cup, to before the lockout. The year before the lockout they had just over 12k on average. Now they're at 16.5k, down from 17.3k two years ago and slightly down from 16.6k a year ago. Are they the worst? No, however currently the worst has no FLA teams either on a strict numbers basis. |
