Well it depends... I'll support my favorite bands even if know they don't get much from music sales, just out of principle. I mean even if it's only a dollar they get out of the sale (if even that), I'll still support a small artist that I like.

If that's the type of musician you're into. I generally buy music off people I think put effort into their product. I've bought all of Paul Gilbert's stuff and dozens of Tom Waits items. I'd do it again. What they do with the cash is their business, not mine.

if i really like a band or singer i buy the actual CD. which works out for me anyway cause i like to see the artwork and read the liner notes.

if i just want to see if i like a band then i will DL it for free off the internet or whatever.

meh, I've bought a few songs I liked.

Can't say I feel any remorse when I download them for free though. These people get paid millions upon millions of dollars to do something they love.
