i think everyone should listen to whatever they like.

i don't like pushy people who act like they know what you should listen to and push their fav bands on you though. you can only hear a person say "if you like _____ then you should listen to _____" so many times before it sounds less like they are interested in you finding a new band you like and more like they just kind of like the sound of their own know-it-all snooty voice.

i know alot of the bands in this country, regardless of genre, have some sort of recognizeable talent. i just have this unhealthy urge to push Euro-metal and 80s/90s metal on people. definitely not fair.

and i'm not against people spreading the word about a good band at all. it's just the people that always know something "better than what you're listening to" that rub me the wrong way.

I don't listen to lots of main stream music anymore...I really enjoy mass quantities of undergroundish alt rock bands from around the world...

honestly, i always thought the idea of the song of the day thread was to just post songs you like, not necessarily trying to push it on other people. that's why i never really got why people can't wait to rip what someone posts. it's not the "hey, listen to this thread", it's the "song of the day thread".

i like to just say "it's not for me" or "it's not my thing" if someone asks me about a song or band they like that i don't. that way i don't sound like i'm being snobbish about it and nobody's feelings get hurt.
