I've been using over the ear clips for 10 years...love em...

I've got a pair of Sennheisers but only for home use because they're pretty big. Got other headphones too. I have a headphone problem.

I just use some cheapo Monoprice in-ear earphones for outside though. I don't care if they break in my pocket or wherever since they were only $8.

If you want a good quality over-ear headphones look at denon. Durable, great sound, great price. Seinheiser's a great brand too though... if they crapped out after only 3 months, they should have a warranty that'll cover you.

If you're just listening at home, and aren't worried about the sound proofing, Grados are great earphones, with two good models under $100.

I like my Beyers the most. DT880 600ohm and DT990 Pros. I'm not big into closed cans so Denons aren't for me.
