My gripes are many with this paragraph you've slapped together like a collage of broken thoughts:

1) It is ludicrous to say you are scientific and religious. If you don't think so, then you don't understand the implications of the two completely oppositional views.

2) I have no idea why a certain denomination or sect making you not feel guilty would be a good reason to believe in said sect.

3) As science trudges forward it consistently reveals a universe which does not require a creator. The last portion of your paragraph is completely illogical and shows you do not, as you claim, think scientifically. Science doesn't need to eliminate God any more than it needs to eliminate fairies or classy Hab fans. Thinking scientifically entails forming your opinions based off information and evidence. There is no reason to believe in a god and therefore the idea is discarded. In fact there are many good reasons to believe there is not a god - certainly not one that intervenes with the universe. If you wish to believe that something called god started the universe and then vanished to never affect anything again, that's fine but it's also unnecessary strange.

Just as it's now shameful to think that biology was guided by the supernatural, it will one day be shameful to think that physics are guided by the supernatural. I assure you any religious man who says he gives credence to science has failed to understand the implications of the scientific method and skeptical thinking.
