Hey Mike,
You're still a (frank)ing retard - WaterBoy
Sorry to burst your bubble, but this (frank)ing retard that never even finished high school runs his own company, and has a gf.
I wake up happy each and every day, and even though I most likely make more in a month than you do in a year, I still have common decency and respect for others. |

There's more!
You are obsessed with me aren't you? Can't stop thinking about me. Can't stop talking about me. If only you had put this much effort into pleasuring your wife, you might still be married. And if only your boy MacT had put that much effort into finding us a defenseman he might still be GM? But like you, he was just a lot of talk and didn't have the balls when it counted. Fortunately Peter Chiarelli was there to save the day and get us to the playoffs. - Ihatebrianburke
I don't like to brag, but somebody wants to talk smack and trivialize me and my company, I'll sure as (frank) put them in their place. Worked my ass off to get where I am in life and proud of where I am. - Ihatebrianburke

Still can't stop talking to me? Give it up already. If anything, tell your ex-wife to give me call. Let her know that not all white guys have as small of a unit as yours. She doesn't have to resort to all that BBC. - Ihatebrianburke

you wear tighty wighties and because you're fat you can't see your penis and you look like a big baby which is, coincidentally, how you act
and if I don't satisfy you anymore, you can call that other dude, you don't have to resort to all that BBC |

i don't really think this guy's great either but igg's getting everything he deserves. he's an awful poster. and this guy's right. he never lets anything die and he's the kind of person that will remember something someone said 6 months ago and throw it in their face not realizing that no matter how wrong that person may have been you look like the bigger loser for remembering something they said 6 months ago. |

It's not scapegoating them, and I can easily rightfully say that it's not. I know you won't agree, but I'll explain my position.
I will agree that after the last game, very few players should be immune. The overall team effort in that game was disgusting but the entire team can't be scratched.
Next point is whether we like it or agree with it, the reality is that all players are not treated the same, and they never will be. There will always be different reasons, and different objectives for scratching one player versus another.
One of the only tools a coach has to at his disposal to challenge and motivate a player is playing time.
In terms of developing players for the future, the players that the team should make the biggest investment in, in terms of development is Konecny, Provorov, and Gostisbehere. Provorov has played beyond his age this season, and is the teams best defenseman.
There are many players on this team who are at the apex of their development at this point, and are what they are. Scratching them is unquestionably not going to improve them as players. So in terms of lineup decisions, it's a question of who they feel is playing better, and who they feel is the best choice out of the choices they have to play. It's a completely different set of parameters in making those decisions, although some are intertwined.
Hakstol came from an environment where he had a constant turnover of players, and developed quality teams and quality players. So he has a proven track record in developing young players.
Both Konecny and Gostisbehere have had repeated issues all season, with puck management, decision making and coverage issues. They've also been given a lot of playing time, and opportunity to correct those issues.
On the first Aho goal in the last game, Konecny makes an awful decision to drop the puck back, leading to a turnover. He is the biggest goat on the play. That alone is enough. On the same play, Gostisbehere is cheating up ice before the breakout is assured. It's clear on the play that they are under heavy pressure. Not only is Gostisbehere cheating up ice, but he is over by the opposite circle, and with his own positioning, way out of the play, with no chance to get back and defend Aho going to the net. Just an awful play by Gostisbehere. He should have been more cautious, and more towards the middle of the ice, then if the break out is successful, he can use his skating to move up and fill a hole late. Joining the rush instead of trying to be out in front of it. A defenseman coming late on a rush is very dangerous player.
On another Gostisbehere play in the offensive zone, there was a great look at it from a center ice camera. Gostisbehere has the puck at a center point position, with a clear shooting lane at the net, with Simmonds parked at the front of the net. That is a strong offensive situation. What happens? Gostisbehere's shot is 7 feet off the ice at Simmonds chest, and 3 feet wide of the net! Just an awful shot execution.
These incidents are not isolated, they're cumulative. It is extremely important for both the players, and the team, that these two players fix the issues they've been having moving forward. What could be more important!
I believe, as I'm sure Hakstol does, and does pretty much every fan, that the Flyers team is better with both Gostisbehere and Konecny playing well, and in the lineup. However, you can't give them carte blanche to continue to make the same repeated mistakes over and over, with no consequences. The reward for those players getting better is much higher than for scratching any veteran, and the results that would gain. It's that simple.
As a fan, I'd rather see both in the lineup and playing, because they can be fun to watch but there is a bigger picture. I'd like to see them both be given the opportunity to play through it, but it is also clear that the results are not there. I also agree that sitting them out is not going to be some magic elixir for their play. Ultimately it will be up to them.
In closing I think the outrage and overreactions to it are ridiculous. There is a bigger picture here, and young players have to know there are consequences. - MJL
