oh my. players don't want to play in anti-abortion states. That's.... the first I've heard that one.
I could swear I came across an article recently that Duchene is a bible thumper too. He may not be as pro-choice as that guy seems to think. - prock

First off, the Blues just beat one of the hottest goalies in the league, Vezina Trophy finalist Ben Bishop. He was awesome and extra motivated playing in front of his friends and family in his hometown of St. Louis. That goes to show you that the Blues can beat a hot goalie. Binnington has a higher GAA due to some bad lapses by his defense and some odd bounces, including the hand pass goal. When he is getting that smothering Blues D, he can match Rask. The Blues had stretches against the Jets, Stars and Sharks where the opponent hardly got a shot over LONG stretches. One against the Stars was like 31-4 in shot differential. The other factor mentioned in previous posts is the Blues strong road play. The Blues have gone into hostile places and won big road playoff games. Winnipeg might be the toughest place to win on the road. The Blues are road warriors and their home record is improving, clinching all 3 series at home. This is going to come down to a few things on the Blues end. Can they get to their game and maintain. That game involves great goaltending, shutdown D that prevents easy zone entry, heavy forechecking, an improving power play, clearing the front of the net and rolling 4 strong lines. Those are some of the major things that got the Blues this far. I don't expect that to stop. This team is motivated and relentless. It is going to be a great series, since the Bruins play that kind of hockey as well. Maybe Rask will cool off with over the long break. I don't think the long break helps a goalie. - RockyStone

This ^^^^^. People were PO when Hextall didn’t make moves now we’re making moves. And I don’t know what Amac this guy was watching but he spent a lot of time in the press box. They buried him even more towards the end of the season. To say he is better than Niskanen is hilarious. Amac is so bad that some guy created an IG account to post an Amac picture every day until his contract was up. He’s a joke he was a defensive liability on the ice that was a has been. A relic from the Holmgren era, and honestly I couldn’t be happier he’s gone. People are analyzing these moves too much these players are rentals. That’s it! Strictly rentals they are not long term fixes. Braun will be gone after this year and in 2 seasons Niskanen’s contract will be up and the Gudas buy out over. Fletcher has drastically improved the team and given AV the tools to compete now. While only giving up a 2019 5th, 2019 2nd and, 2020 3rd. So please tell me how these are bad moves? The cap space will be cleared up in two years. A 5th and a 3rd are fringe NHL players a majority of the time. Does the 2nd sting a little? Yeah, but that is addressing future talent.
We finally have a stand pat 2nd center, who can be mad at that? Last season Hakstol forced Nopa into a role that he was not ready for. Logging large chunks of minutes against unfavorable matchups. You really can’t expect a young player to improve while being forced into a role like that. We landed the 2nd best UFA that would of hit the market on 7/1. I’m excited this is progress and movement forward. Hayes is everything the Flyers need a big body that can play on the PK but is productive 5v5. As far as his contract goes that’s the going rate now for a 2C. Flyers fans shouldn’t be mad at Fletcher they should be PO at Jeff Skinner and his agent for driving up the cost of a first line player. The numbers will ripple downward and affect every team. To say Hayes is making more than Barkov and other centers is an irrelevant statement. Those players signed big dollar contracts during their neogations. It’s now going full circle and the market value has gone up.
As far as I’m concerned the Flyers have addressed their major needs minus a backup goalie. The RFAs will now probably be signed in the coming days. So far it has been a productive off season. - Jdrini56

then they'll say "pffft, you don't pay a #3C that kind of money!" without realizing what they just said. |

There are piles of players agents out there talking to GMs, saying "if you don't think my guy is worth $5M, I'll get the Flyers on the other line, and have an $8M offer in no time".
They're like the Rangers, but pre-cap. Actually even after the cap. Were'nt Drury, Gomez, Redden all signed under the cap? |

At least Marner and Matthews are elite players. They're gonna get paid $10M. and they would get that from any team.
Kevin Hayes was not getting north of $7M from other teams. I can't see that happening.
i'm willing to bet that comment on setting the market is wrong, and that Hayes contract will be an outlier. |

Sorry, quotes are not working...
Rhino, at least the CBJ never intentionally tanked to get the top pick in the draft 2 or 3 years running, so please don't trash another organization because you got intentionally lucky with your draft position.
I would also remind some of you that had the CBJ not lost 3 or it's top 6 d-men before and during the playoffs the Boston series could easily have turned a different way, and then who knows what happens against Carolina and St. Louis? It was a risk worth taking and the CBJ should be applauded for rolling the dice and going for it instead trading everyone away at the trade deadline for chump change players and picks. Since everyone assumed the UFA's were leaving for greener pastures no matter what the CBJ did who is going to spend a #1 draft pick + to rent these guys for two months?
The team obviously believes that the young players coming up will be quality NHL players, and if it takes a year or two for them to get better, then it takes time. It is really discouraging that all of the big free agents left, Columbus is a great town and there is a lot of support for the team. But the UFA's had their own priorities, and like I said, better to use them to try and win it all than drop out of the playoffs and try to make them in 2020 with some 2nd and 3rd round picks and a couple aging veterans.
I would also remind you that there are some teams who have cap problems even now, and who knows what players will be available as the season gets closer? The team has $17 million US dollars left to spend, and likely $10 million after signing Zach Wrenesky to a contract. This off-season is not over yet, and this is not the Oilers or Arizona we are discussing. - jkumpire

he wasn't here between 2004 - 2010 (unless he's using an alt account), he thinks he knows what he's talking about but doesn't. he's just a post hockeybuzz golden era sheep follower moron wannabe trying to hold it down for his clique for social brownie points. it's pretty pathetic how he just can't leave well enough alone, he comes at me and then throws his little fits, the only person i don't mind pissing off is him to be honest and he brings it all on himself. keep my name out of your finger tips and it won't be a problem, but time and time again this jamoke thinks he has some sort of right to infringe upon my freedoms. who the (frank) are you? (frank) outta here wussy. i guess it's my bad for trying to make bumholes laugh. nobody is doing anything to you or anyone else and you're just an angry paranoid (frank)ing 2 bit chump bumhole casserole who hates your own self and tries to take it out on me because i'm an easy target. i'm so sorry you have very little joy in your life gramps, but not really. - LeafnsNxt2Godlyns
