I'm too lazy to look for them, but my favourites include:
- the post where Julie asks people to explain to her the difference between international-sized and nhl-sized rinks
- the post from a blogger (maybe it was the St. Louis or Chicago blogger?) who said that he couldn't write about away games, because he couldn't afford the cable package that carried them. |

In case you missed it on my twitter feed...I'm going to Traverse City this weekend for the NHL Prospects Tournament featuring future NHL studs from Carolina, Atlanta, Columbus, Minnesota, Dallas, St. Louis, Detroit and the NY Rangers. I am also singing the praises of Priceline.com and the ridiculous deal they got me on my flight and hotel. It wasn't LIKE getting my flight for half price and my hotel for free...it WAS getting my flight for half price and hotel for free!! So, I highly suggest you utilize their services for all your travel needs especially when your travel dates and times are flexible.
But now...to the real purpose of this blog...the prospects!![/img] |

Julie,
I still have that crack in my basement floor. I bought some Sika filler yesterday but haven't gotten around to applying it yet although I did notice that despite not being either deep nor wide, the crack is very long, going literally from one end of thr baseent to the other.
Any thoughts? Should I get an expert to check it out? What can he really tell me about it even if I do?
Thanks,
dt99999
ps.: one more thing: there isn't really any detectable humidity in the basement so I'm pretty sure I'm not getting any water infiltration and the crack itself is dry. The house was buit in 2001 |

Basement floor check.
WayneZ, not check. He had a 5 paragraph long speech about whoring out a 12 year old girl to old men and compared it to Toronto |

Oh god, I remember that one.
If someone wants to go looking for it, you'll likely find it in one of Eklund's blogs about Jim Ballsackie's bid to buy the Coyotes from about a month ago. |

Let's pretend every day you have 10 customers, and only 1 young daughter to pimp. Your daughter isn't very attractive, but for some bizarre reason, your 10 customers are totally hooked on your daughter. So demand is high, and supply is low. Every day, you auction off that little cupcake. Every day, you have 10 nookie-starved people lined up, knocking on you door, wanting to buy that daughter of yours. So you do really, really well, because every day, 10 people are trying to outbid each other to buy that one single, solitary hole. Every day, without fail, you sell your one daughter to the guy who gives you the most money.
Then one day, somebody says that they want to start selling his daughter in your condo. Previously, you were the only guy who sold under aged family members.
You don't know if the other guy's daughter is going to be better looking or not. But you do know that your loyal customers - 9 of which go home every day without a piece- know about the new guy.
But wait, when you bought your condo, the condo board gave you exclusive daughter vending rights. If you say "no", then no one else is allowed to sell ass in your condo.
So I ask you this, Weirdoh - do you allow the other guy to start selling his daughter? |

If you've been listening to the Hockey Buzzcasts, you'd know that I am obsessed with the Olympics...and if you haven't been listening...well, you're caught up - I'm obsessed with the Olympics.
Last week, I stayed up until nearly 4 am every night as I caught up on all the days events. After the excitement that was the Race for Eight and Nastia v. Shawn, the track and field events are showing to be a big let down. Marathon running is not exactly what I would call must-see TV, but I digress...
Because of all my blabbering about the Games, I received several emails about Canada's lack of medals including this one:
As a Canadian, I am somewhat ashamed by zero medals nearly a week into the games. While we may not posses the genome of an Aquaman, we do have a genetic relationship with Iceman, and we will be hosting the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. When we were awarded the Winter Olympics, Athletics Canada shifted nearly all of its funding to "own the podium" in the snow games. This has had a severe impact on our summer athletes, in a country that is deeply in love with winter sports. While we might be ashamed of our performance in Beijing, I am certain that most Canadians would gladly trade shame in the summer games to ensure our success in the winter games we will be hosting.
Touche!
It got me thinking about 2010 and more specifically the Hockey Tournament. Not so much who will be representing their country or even who will win gold, but more about the coverage and what I want to see, both from the networks that cover it and the NHL.
First, I was pretty bummed for the players who missed out on the excitement that is the Opening Ceremonies in Turin because the tournament started later on in the Games and therefore the NHL hadn't started its Olympic hiatus. That sucks!! Participating in that ceremony is part of the honor and the experience of getting to represent your country. So, I would like to see the NHL go on hiatus previous to a day or two before the tournament starts. It's wishful thinking, I know, but I'd still like to see it. Plus, it will give the teams another opportunity to come together prior to the start of the Games.
Second, I want to know about hockey in other countries. I have no idea what the culture of hockey is like in Europe...I don't know much about the leagues over there. I don't know about their development programs or training facilities. Are they similar to the development camps of Hockey Canada? or more like the NTDP of USA Hockey? I don't know about their youth programs, nor about the selection process for those countries that can't fill their rosters with NHL players. When it comes to international hockey, for the most part I am completely ignorant especially when it comes to some of the rules, surface dimensions and why the clock ticks up rather than down. PLEASE EDUCATE ME!!!!
Third, I want to know more about the history of hockey. With the games being held in Canada, the birthplace of the sport we can't seem to get enough of, it seems like a no brainer to include features on the storied history and traditions of hockey.
Those are my thoughts...what are yours?
And to all the Canadians...how important is success in 2010 to you?
What's interesting is that Canada will be an international hockey hotbed leading up to these games - hosting both the 2009 and 2010 World Junior Championships. Fun times
Talk soon!
Julie

I don't think it was you. I tried looking for it but couldn't find it. He talked about how the Redden and Roszival contracts are genius and Gomez and Drury are further proof I think. Completely serious too |

Nope it was some random Rangers fan, kind of mystical like the guy who posted the "Peters. twice" post
It was in an Ek blog, many pages deep, from July 1, 2007 called something like "ALL UFA SIGNINGS/TRADES HERE" |

I believe I have found this post
I think when all is said and done...after signing both Drury and Gomez...a lot of people owe Glen Sather an apology. Maybe it was his skill all these years getting an absolute wreck of a team from Neil Smith and finally creating the team he wanted all along. This was a major sales job by Sather and as a season ticket holder I thank him in advance for a promising 2007-08 season. Say what you want...he outwitted and out-sold a bunch of other GM's who according to this site and others are "experts". Great job Glen!
http://www.hockeybuzz.com...p?thread_id=21991&page=82
Unless somehow there were TWO rangers fans who defended Sather's terrible signings like that
edit: Wait, you mentioned him defending Redden and Rosival too? Maybe there was another one in 08...man I'd like to read someone calling the Redden signing "genius", it was absolutely horrid from the second Redden's pen left the contract. |
