Ugh... this blog actually made me cringe. I'm getting worried for you, Howard. I'm afraid you've actually snapped. You're not even writing about the team anymore, on or off the ice. A majority of your time is now spent picking fights on the internet and then talking about your fights on the internet.

As I said before, most people get what your little game is. Most people still find it unprofessional and immataure from a professional journalist. We get what the "joke" is. We know what sarcasm is. We know satire. But what you do is simply not funny, not good satire, and in poor taste.

The fact that you need to put on a hyper-douche act to get a few hits because your reporting is no longer up to snuff is embarassing, quite frankly.



So, you're saying that what you write for us and for those at the FAN590 is pointless and worthless? Gotcha.

At least have the stones to stand behind what you write. Even before you decided to become the "heel" around here (or, as you like to refer to yourself, a "satirist" :lol, you were still an insulting jerk full of inconsistencies, ignorance, and obnoxiousness who thought he knew better than everyone and liked to remind of it at every turn.

And now you want to play the "hey, I wasn't serious" card? that's such a weasel-ish coawrdly way to back down from what you write. And like I said, if this is all just a bit of light-hearted goofiness, then what is the point of your continued existence as a writer or journalist? When was the last time you did some honest-to-God journalism by reporting anything of significance related to anything or anybody in the whole world of sports?

You play very few people like a fiddle. In reality, perhaps it's the fan base that plays you. For the past week, you've been bogged down in an internet pissing match that has finally come to the point of absurdity with you trying to pass off some half-arsed explanation for why you haven't done your job as a real journalist or provided anything worth reading in quite some time.

But hey, I guess all this distraction keeps you from addressing that inconveient little issue: the Leafs current success vs. your unbridled hostility and negativity towards the team since Burke and Wilson arrived. How to solve that little inconsistency? Start flame wars! I've said this before on other threads, but you are the world's first paid troll. Almost everything you've written this season has been an attempt to get a rise out of Leafs fans.

That's not wit. Or satire. Or a pratical joke. That's pathetic from a man who gets paid to know a thing or two about the Leafs and report it. If you have nothing newsworthy or exciting to offer us and you've decided to just stick to opinion pieces, would it kill you to back up what you say and stand behind it? Would it kill you to at least give us some sort of well-reasoned arguement? Would it kill you to at least try to be a decent writer and not a hack with nothing to say?

Your inflated name recognition gives you an opportunity to be heard and instead you've decided to go the opposite direction: just turn yourself into another average Joe with nothing to add to the conversation, but an appetite for trolling and stirring the pot.



Finally, I'll end this rant with something I posted on another thread in response to your "fiddle" jab...

Typical composition of posters on a Berger blog:

10% who don't get that he's being sarcastic and trying to get a reaction from Leafs fan by playing the role of the "heel".

60% who do understand that he's being sarcastic, but still find it shockingly unprofessional, irritating, and generally douchie. This group gets the "joke" and understands the act he puts on, they just don't find it funny or dignified for a so-called professional journalist.

10% who insist that most people dislike Berger because they just "don't get it." In truth, most of us get it, we just find his writing to be poor, his opinions to be worthless, and his style to be unprofessional.

20% are trolls from other teams who hang on his every word and think he's the best thing ever. Probably because, deep down, he hates the Leafs as much as they do.

all the wings ive had from there tasted like someone took some fat, threw it in a deep fryer for 20 minutes then served them. simply disgusting. Gabrielle's doesnt even taste deep fried, you can taste the chicken

It is a combination of terrible coaching, worthless GM and lack of heart by a hockey team. People get fired when they don't perform their jobs up to expectations. Whomever coaches our special teams should be gone - their system isn't working. Please - spare us the excuses. Ruff is in big trouble and just because he has been her forever doesn't mean anything.

Darcy is a joke - believing in players that don't even believe in themselves. The Sabres are the worst when their backs are against the wall or face adversity. No leaders - zero character - that is the problem. Playing like pu##ies is acceptable.

Let's look at the recent decisions by Darcy:

- Resigned Lalime again this year - the dude has had 9 wins in 42 games since joining the Sabres - that is 21%. - I can appreciate he is a good guy in the lockerroom but at the end of the day it is winning games on the ice. Miller needed a capable backup and Lalime ain't in the ballpark. Darcy had plenty of options here but fails to address a huge issue for this team - decent backup goalies are a dime a dozens.

- Let Hank go - I think Darcy gave Tyler too much credit last year. Synergy is hard to find. You have a young talent that found a veteran player he feels comfortable playing with - a player that you drafted and has been in your system for years. You just let go. You knew your Captain was coming off a shoulder injury and who's play has declined rapidly in the past 2 seasons. You resign Hank and get rid of Rivet and Lydman - sign Jordan and Morrison. Defense has been a huge issue this year. Don't believe in Sekera or Butler - Weber is a bust.

- Recent trades and signings (1) Niedermayer zero goals / 2 assists in 12 games (2) Torres zero goals / 5 assists in 15 games (3) Dominic Moore 1 goal / assists in 18 games. Three examples of a GM not doing his job. Leveraging our draft picks for 2 lame playoff players and signing a washed up veteran.

- Zero focus on the power play
