You can't get rid of crime but you can lower the severity of it.

You could take away guns, knives, bats or any other weapon and people will still find a way to kill each other. We always have, and probably always will. It sucks but that's just the way it is. A society without violence is a nice idea, just not a realistic one.

It was an example. I was pointing out that knives are just as deadly, you just have to be closer. A small jackknife won't hurt you too much. A switchblade moreso, ditto a butterfly knife. Hunting and combat knives are the worst because they have jags that tear on the way out. Kind of like what a hollowpoint bullet will do.

Taking away peoples freedoms won't solve anything. It will just leave the law abiding weapons owners defenseless against the criminals who don't give a (frank) about gun laws. While the cops can take care of things, they don;t really help when the guy is already in your house.
