depends on how Gustavsson plays (hopefully on saturday) then the only difference may be between defense and offense... and the offense gap will be closed a bit more in a few weeks

From your comment I can clearly see that you do not watch Habs games.

Anyway, I agree that on paper, without Markov, a top5 Dman in the NHL, the Habs D isn't better than the Leafs', that the Habs goalie tandem is much better than the Leafs' and that the Habs offense is also much better than the Leafs'.

- jeffyjones

Typical reply...No, their D sucks, and Price has been keeping you in. I watched 3 of the 5, The Leafs game, the Canucks game and somewhat of the Flames game. the game where Price couldn't keep you in you got destroyed 7-1... What I noticed, Spacek was best D, and Hal Gill or Mara couldn't do anything.

Price is part of the team and yes he has the ability to play like a franchise player, something Toronto doesn't have.

Franchise goalie... and he has the ability, but so far in the playoffs he's had the ability to look like Andrew Raycroft...

On Paper the Leafs defense is better than the Habs even WITH Markov in your lineup... But the performance so far shows that Montreal's with Markov is better... Even though I think Markov is overrated defensively...

Actually, he's still underrated.

In the offseason everyone is saying the leafs are so much better. Komisarrek struggled last season and the year before could have been a career season. I think he will turn it around but it is just as likely he won't. Beauchamin is a great pickup but you lost Kubina. Schenn should be better with age but many times players have the sophmore slumps. There is questions with their defense and I don't think it is out of the question for them to not be great. On top of that they don't have any top line players until Kessel comes back and questions in goal. Things could turn around and the leafs make the playoffs but with all the questions things could go very bad. I think the Kessel trade is a decent move but I would feel bad for leaf nation if they struggle and gives Boston a very good pick. Isn't the 2nd round pick this draft as well?

I don't think he is, considering I've seen him get dangled too many times haha... Although he does have a plus rating for last year...

Nope. Kaberle has the same PTS% than him since the lockout. You fail.

Some things to consider is over the last 4 years Kaberle's points are declining while Markov's point totals have increased each of the last 4 seasons. It seems Kaberle developed faster than Markov but at this point in their career Markov is the better point producer. The last 3 seasons Markov has the higher ppg total.

You fail if you think anyone but a Leafs homer would put Markov behind Kaberle in terms of offensive prowess.

The stats say otherwise.

And in case you can't read, I'll reiterate. I never said that Kaberle was better than Markov offensively, but rather their offensive output over the last 5 years is identical.

Who cares of what happened 5 years ago.
Oli Jokinen has a better offensive output over the last 5 years than Rick Nash. Who is better offensively.
You fail.

Oh ok that makes a lot of sense!! 11 year vet outscored a 6 year vet in the last 5years. Are you really this dumb?? Can you really think that comparing that to Markov and KAberle is the same??

Well yes the habs have been better the last couple seasons but lets go back three years. 2006-2007 the leafs finished 1 point ahead of the leafs but the leafs scored more goals. Then 2007-2008 the habs scored more goals and this past season dispite the habs being the better team the leafs scored more goals so it is not like the habs really outscored the leafs by a wide margin. I don't think Kaberle's decline is so much playing on a worse team. Look at Markov in 2007-2008 the habs scored the most goals in the NHL and the following season struggled but yet he still increased his point total. I simply think it is that Markov developed at a later age than Kaberle and right now is the better player.
