Yeah, he went off his game plan, and tried to jump-start the re-build and it blew up in his face, and is re blowing up again as the one dimensional, uncoachable player he pinned the entire re-build on, shows up at training camp over weight, goes though the motion in practise and chooses not to backcheck, forecheck and only cashes cheques.

BTW Bobby Ryan now has 29 points in his last 29 games.

He has slowly become the Team's defacto leader on and off the ice, regardless of having a letter sewn on his jersey or not.

He is a good player. Still not a fan of the deal or the resigning for all those years. But no doubt his off ice community involvement has rapidly made him into a fan favorite.

Yes, he is very good. But Patrick Kane is a better 2nd line player. Also love Patrice Bergeron in that role as well.

No, this guys are top line players.

Certainly you can't think Ryan is anywhere near their shadow's caliber

Patrick Kane plays on the second line. Toews is the first line center.

Evandro Kane played third line in Winnipeg. He has been my pick as best young power forward (potential). Silly to make 1st line vs 2nd line distinctions.

Some of you guys want to focus on picky details and contrived disagreement in order to avoid discussing substance.

Which is exactly what you're doing

Bobby Ryan is second line calibre. Just because other teams put top line calibre players on the second line doesn't mean he compares to them.

The media and the fanbase in toronto do not have the patience to wait for a real true rebuild through the draft.

Everyone knows it is what is needed, but ownership, fan and media pressure finally get to the GM, and when they start start hearing the calls for the quick fix, the GM usually caves............like Burke did.

DO you really believe that the leafs will stop bringing in high priced UFAs, and only draft and develop players for the better part of the next decade?

- Doppleganger

Bullpoop.

How can one cave if they never committed to a rebuild?

Look, I never supported the Ryan trade.

But, he is a very good player. Any team would love to have him. I have no idea what motivates you to want to focus on Ryan. Ottawa fans love him. End of story.

Well, generally, when you get an entire panel of some of the more respected minds in the business saying something, you should care about that more than "top shelf" and a few internet posters.

You understand that there was an entire group of NHL GMs and coaches that came to the same conclusion, right? You understand that the well known sound byte was not the opinion carried by simply one NHL GM right?

The Hoffman, Ryan, Zibanejad Line, are the top three goal scores on the Senators with 48 goals, 10 more goals than the Turris, Stone, MacArthur line..........if you want to call that the second line, you can, but it does not change the fact that it's Ottawa's top scoring line.

Who do you think the Panthers would send to the leafs in exchange for Kessel?

NO, like uncoachable, one dimentional, unmotivated and going through the motions at practise while being the last one on the ice, and the first one off.

Yeah like "pugnacity, testosterone, truculence and belligerence". This is what lead to Olympic defeat and the leafs being a sub-basement team today

So, you think you see more than an entire panel of some of the most respected minds in the business?

You do realize that the GM of that team is the GM of the number 1 team in the league right now, right? The assistant GM has a cup to his name as well.
