Well, generally, when you get an entire panel of some of the more respected minds in the business saying something, you should care about that more than "top shelf" and a few internet posters.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Yes, people make mistakes. Are you trying to suggest leaving Bobby Ryan off the team was a mistake? People point to the American team not doing well. There is nothing to suggest they would have done any better with him in the lineup. That's a management team that nearly won gold 4 years prior, which was considered a surprise. That's a management team with a GM that is currently the GM of the number 1 team in the league. Another person under him with a cup ring.

Nope. If Bobby Ryan can't be more than a second line centre in the NHL, there is no, I repeat NO reason to believe he somehow would have changed the fortunes of the US Olympic team. He, at BEST, would have played a depth role, even if chosen. Hell, his former NHL team improved when they got rid of him, that much is fact.

The very idea that "well look at how the US team did" is somehow proof that leaving Bobby Ryan off the team is a mistake is pure stupidity.
