16 mins a game with Savard and Lucic is still likely better than 20 minutes a game with Stajan and Blake.
- Big T

20 minutes a game with Phil Kessel in your lineup is a lot better than 16 minutes of Jason Blake,

And Savard will never score as many points without Kovalchuk

Remember that?

wow, a toronto media outlet calling it "the savard myth"

you wonder why you guys have sucked for over 40 years...

- gretzky

These are people who have studied every Kessel goal. Have you?

And stop with the Toronto media b.s. This is the only time i've seen anyone in the media claim Savard didn't help Kessel much. Everyone else in the Toronto media is pointing out how much Savard helped Kessel.

Rather then just assuming Savard made Kessel, you have to look at all factors.

Maple Leafs Hot Stove has an interesting article on what they call "The Savard Myth"

Basically Savard assisted on 25 of Kessel's 42 goals last season (includes playoffs) but of those they maintain that only 6 of the goals were due to Savard making a magical pass and the rest was Kessel doing the bulk of the work. They have a youtube video of every goal scored and I counted about 15 goals out of 42 where he received an amazing feed but not from Savard every time.

Here's the article:

It's nice that some one in the media is pointing this out.

BTW, I thought I coined the phrase, "The Savard Myth".

No one should be arguing the 'Savard Myth'. How many of his linemates have scored that many goals? He's a decent playmaker, but let's not go crazy. Kessel potted those all by himself. He'll do it again, too.

They deserved a better result last night. They dominated the Stars for large parts of the game. If they keep playing the way they have been playing in the last week the results will follow.

What's a person's allegiance to the Toronto Maple Leafs worth?

Twenty-five bucks -- or at least that's what one man sold his for on eBay.

Lee Kirby, a lifelong Leafs fan from Keswick, Ont., placed his "allegiance up for the highest bidder" and landed $25 US for it, Greg Wyshynski reported yesterday on his Puck Daddy blog on Yahoo! Sports.

After the Leafs got off to the worst start in franchise history, going winless in their first eight games of the season, Kirby had enough. As well vowing to ditch his allegiance to the Leafs, he promised to begin rooting for the winning bidder's favourite team.

"I will remove all Leaf memorabilia from my home and replace it with the team of choice of the winning bidder," Kirby wrote on his eBay post. "I will root for my 'new team' whenever they are on TV. I will argue with the guys at work that my new team is the best. The best part for me is now I can laugh at the Maple Laughs."

The winning bidder was Chris Dawson, an Alberta native who chose to root for the Dallas Stars rather than jumping into the Battle of Alberta debate between Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames fans.

The bidding -- under the headline "Very Used Toronto Maple Leafs fan" -- started at one cent. Kirby received 13 bids.

Kirby donated the $25 to the Southlake Regional Cancer Centre project in Newmarket, Ont.

Right now they are getting lots of chances and overall are playing pretty well but just aren't at the talent level they need to be...hopefully Kessel can be the difference maker that can finish those chances that we can't seem to capitalize on. If not I think we'll see a lot more games we deserved to wins than games we actually win.

watched a bit of the leafs Dallas game the other day, ans noticed the leafs are, on average, a larger team than most. If they stick to basics, and play the body EVERY time they have a chance, they will become a hard team to play against, and this should open up space and time for the few skilled scorers on the team. Can't get mush worse than the start of the season, and should improve as season progresses.................but making the playoffs will be a hard hill to climb.

one that they likely won't be able to manage.

However, next season, we should see a few promotions, and some UFA signings that may help us out a bit more

Yeah all the top name UFA's will rush to sign in Hogtown. They'll even play for much less - maybe even the league minimum.
