Yeah that makes sense!!

Jonathan Cheechoo won a Maurice Richard trophy. Is he better than Kessel?

We'll see if Kessel can be as good as he was last year, or as good as he's been touted by Leafs fans, as it still remains to be seen.

Yeah because that the same situation.

Cheechoo scored 56 goals as a 25year old with the best setup man around. He had a decent season going into that year and then has dropped in production each successive year. Higgins has never done what Kessel or Cheechoo has.

Saying that a 28 year old that has never cracked 27 goals is better than a 21 year old that put up 36 goals is ludicrous!!

When did I say that Higgins is better than Kessel?

And the closest thing to a good linemate that Higgins ever had was Saku Koivu. I'm not basing it on one game, I'm basing it on everything I've seen of the two players over their careers. Just because Kessel scored 10 goals more than Higgins best year once doesn't mean he's all that better than him either.

Kessel reminds me of Ex-Flyer Brian Propp. Plays very similar, slight in size, quick release and good speed. If the Leafs can acquire a decent setup man, then Kessel may become a 50 goal scorer, like Propp, during his heyday during the 80's.

Do they teach you how to read in Toronto or what?

Just because Kessel scored 10 goals more than Higgins best year once doesn't mean he's all that better than him either.

DOESN'T MEAN THAT HE'S ALL THAT MUCH BETTER THAN HIM.

Not:

MEANS THAT HIGGINS IS BETTER THAN KESSEL

I know what it means. Comparing them at all is pointless. That is the point.

I don't know how good the teaching is in Toronto, I'm not from there. But I wouldn't expect you to catch that.

Ya, unfortunately I don't know you, so my bad. The education from wherever you're from then

If you know the meaning of what I posted, then why did you bring it up and stupidly said that I said Higgins was better than Kessel, when I clearly didn't?

They are comparable players. Kessel is a younger Higgins with a bit more scoring touch, who had the benefit of playing with better players in Boston, hence, putting up more goals and points.

Really?? Substance = saying a guy that is 4 years old and has never scored more than 27 goals isn't that far off/comparable to a guy that scored 10 more goals than the other guys did in his best year.

Keep trying.

hey, if a 4 year old scored 27 for my team, I'd take him over a 21 year old with 36

Clearly, there was much more to my comparison than that, but I'll accept those rose colored glasses you have on as a fair explanation as why you choose to ignore the rest of my argument.

I have rose coloured glasses because I think that a guy that has put up better numbers is better? What else is there to your argument??

If Higgins had only five goals less in as many games or something like that your argument would have some value but he doesn't so it's not., Kessel's career high goals is significantly higher than Higgins and in the season he did it he missed a dozen games. It's like someone saying Stajan is comparable to Backstrom because he only got 7 less goals then him last season.

No, they aren't comparable. It's not even close. Bottom line is that if you proposed a Higgins for Kessel trade as a GM you would be laughed out of the industry.

If the Leafs can't get a win tonight over a badly beat up Carolina team, we will be in trouble. If we continue to struggle, does Burke have a back up plan to acquire a first round pick in next year's draft?

Gustavsson is looking like the real deal. No Taylor Hall for Boston. Sorry kiddies.

His save % is .908 and climbing every game. The Leafs haven't had this kind of goaltending since Belfour pre-lockout.
