anyone looking at the standings could have seen that for themselves. I doubt that anyone was "ripped off".

It does not change the fact that former leaf coaches are not doing any better in the NHL than they were when fired by the leafs.

I'm wondering if Wilson has a bit of protection (from being fired) given the fact that he is the Coach for the USA Olympic team.

It would be kinda hard for Burke to fire him from the leafs, and then team up with him in Vancouver.

Perhaps Burke's hands are tied on this option (firing his coach) and this may impact negatively on the leafs in the long run.

It's hard to coach a team with no talent. Scotty Bowman would not be able to get this Leafs team out of the basement.

On the other hand Maurice legitimately is a bad coach. His coaching record reflect this.

Either the GMs or the owners. I'd say the latter since they hand picked the guys who ran the team.

I mean, who cares? Quinn coaches a bad team, that didn't fare much better last year, when they DID have their top player in the lineup. And Maurice, it's interesting he wants to use this year's stats, when Maurice coached them to such a great season last year. Instead, he wants to use this year, when they've been decimated by injuries as well.

Not GMs. GM - JFJ. They went on a pretty good run with Quinn as GM. The team went downhill when JFJ took over, and the lockout hit.

To a lot of non leaf fans, the trading away of multiple high draft picks for one player ( no matter how good he may or may not be) does not look like a franchise in the first couple of years of a five year re-building program, that the leafs claimed has their course of action and couple of seasons ago.

well, we've got a #1 goalie for years to come, a #1 winger, a very good defense corps, a good group of prospects, and enough cap space coming up this summer--along with inevitable roster openings-- to add another big piece to the forward group, either through trade or signing.

Not to nitpick, but at best he could be a star forward. Realistically a 2nd liner may be correct however.

goals against per game. last in the league. D are supposed to keep the puck out. yours dont do a very good job at all. our all offense D corp does a better job than you guys and were rollin with 2 AHL goalies.

Because, if you look at stats that do a better job of isolating defensive play from goaltending, it tells a bit of a different story. Can you follow that?

Gustavsson is over .900 on a team that's playing horribly in his first season in north american hockey

Kessel hit a cold streak, happens to every player... he does have points in his last 2 games.

and the defensemen have looked good individually, but team defensive play has been bad. Notice I didn't say we have good coaching.

in all fairness, Pat Quinn was an excellent coach pre-lock out.

I thought it was odd having two shoot first type guys in Hall and Kadri on the same line, but Kadri didn't look out of place. Agreed on the dumb penalties though. I like that he was laying out big hits, but he needs to lay off the cheapshots a little.

I thought Leafs played a wonderful game last night and they played hockey the way it is supposed to be played. It was great entertainment.

I was not able to see last night's game, from all reports it sounds like the Leafs had a solid game. Well done.
