Your comments lack substance. They are most often irrational and, emotionally, rather than factually based. You seem to project your frustration upon successful players, perhaps helping you to avoid disappointment in your own expectations. I cannot be certain but it seems to me that you may be starting the season in an unhappy mood.

your comments are ridiculous. Again, when I responded to your post with video, you spouted ridiculous crap about Ray Bourque. That's behaving like an idiot, and I won't give that serious attention.

My response was perfectly appropriate. It is well understood that someone who tries to prove the general through a single illustration of the particular is skating on thin ice. We can find bone head plays made by great players. Yesterday, for example, Malkin made an awful play giving the puck away on a bad pass that was moved from Michalek to Spezza to Greening for a goal. The play looks worse because Malkin is such a great player. Your obsession with trying to reveal Karlsson's flaws only affirms your obsession with his influence.

This is not rocket science. It is pretty simple stuff. You might want to try to stick more to hockey this year rather than trying to manipulate opinion that you don't really share.

I think Prock would be foolish to deny that Karlsson is a great talent offensively. Good thing he doesn't. In fact, I don't think Prock denies Karlsson is a good player who could be a great player. Pretty much the only criticism he's leveled is that he's not great in his own zone.

which, by the way, is completely irrelevant to the original point made...

I remember reading spatso point out (probably upwards of 5+ times) that the sens could have 4 or 5 players like Zib make the jump... silferberg, noeson, pumpel, Stone, prince etc... Kadri is a few days older than Silf. has 5 points in 5 games..but has already been deemed a bust by most

not only are these guys not in the NHL, theyre failing in junior leagues and the AHL.

he should just admit he was being an idiot and move on.

I'm curious though. I know those guys love Turris but they could've had Tarasenko instead.

Tarasenko for Rundblad.

Rundblad+2nd for Turris.

Imagine if a Leafs GM made a series of trades like that? Oh boy.

If Tarasenko ends up as good as it appears he will that's up there with the Kessel deal. Nobody talks about it though because unlike the Leafs nobody gives a poop about the Sens.

looks like they may have given up just as much, if not more, and gotten back one tenth of the player.

I think Turris is a decent player, but he is certainly not a potential future superstar.

I really don't think trading the 2nd overall pick is comparable to trading the 16th overall pick.

On a side note Turris would lead the leafs in points and goals right now.

Nazem Kadri and Mikhael Grabovski would be leading the Senators in points.

Or they'd be tied for lead. Less bias plz.

Also, the pick doesn't matter, the player does.

to an extent that's true. However, I wouldn't fault a team for happening to have traded the Red Wings the 9th round pick that yielded Datsyuk.

EDIT: 6th.

I believe Prock said in this thread that Karlsson could not break into the Leafs top 4.

the turris trade is looking like a steal at the moment, rundblad hasn't done much at all in NA. Lots of talent but looks like he can't make the adjustment to the NA game. Reminds me of stralman at this point.

Losing out on tarasenko is a risk you take when trading a 1st round pick. In the end its going to work out for the sens getting a decent 2nd line centre and the blues who get a top 6 winger and potentially a major impact player.

for sure. he has game breaking talent. He was ranked high going into the draft and for whatever reason fell to where he was taken. I don't know if it was a fear of him not leaving russia or what but talent wise he was clearly in the top 5 at the time.

The Turris trade was beneficial. Day 1 I said Rundblad was overrated and Ottawa probably got the better player. We'd need Dopps to come around and dig that post up since I don't have a clue where I said that but I did more or less say that in a post at the time.

If you bring it back to the core pieces that allowed for that to happen though.. yikes. Tarasenko + 2nd rounder for Turris has the potential to be catastrophically bad. We will need more time to see how good Tarasenko ends up obviously but the potential for disaster is there.

for sure. at the time it was a pretty lateral trade. 16th pick for the previous years 17th pick. It looked like rundblad would be a star based on the season after the trade, but we've seen since that despite the talent he might not be best suited for the NA game. Turris is turning out to be a pretty decent NHL player and the 2nd is a project goaltender who is the backup for London as a 19 year old.

Right or wrong, Ottawa had decided not to draft a Russian. Most other teams had decided the same. Tarasenko was well known and should have gone much higher. Full credit to St Louis for taking the risk when everyone else was passing.

Not really sure why this thread is returning for detailed discussion. I have a theory that it likely has something to do with the fact that Kessel is struggling and, by comparison, Dougie Hamilton has arrived with a splash.

If you read above, I actually mentioned his injuries. That said, he really has been quite brutal. Even at the AHL level, he doesn't stick out (in a good way at least). So, maybe you can attribute some of it to injuries, but wow, even with that, being so horrible at the AHL level is not so good.

I'm curious to see what happens now that he's been called up. You would think, with the showing he's had so far, he'd be a fixture on the Binghamton Sens for the foreseeable future.

- prock

Zibanejad, who is finally tasting some success with Binghamton of the American Hockey League following a season which started slow due an odd array of ailments -- whiplash, impacted wisdom teeth, the flu – received a call-up Monday, with the AHL on its all-star break.

Don't forget, he went back to Sweden last season and his development was NOT in the Senators hands, and the team only used him sparingly. IF he had stayed in North America and has able to play a season in Junior hockey, his development would be much further along.

Water under the bridge, so now that he's picked it up a bit in the AHL we'll see where he's at now.
