I am starting my re-read of this series, I know I'm crazy. I started reading this book in 1995 and continued reading right up until Crossroads of Twilight then finally gave up.

I got sick of the time in between books and the series had gotten bogged down with too many side stories and sub plots so I vowed I would not read another book until it was completed. Then Jordan up and died before he could finish the series. His widow hired Brandon Sanderson to tie it up as one last book but after he did his re-read of the series he wasn't confident he could wrap it all up neatly with one book so it became three.

Anyway enough of the history lesson, I'm hoping a bunch of other authors I read will get some books out while I'm reading this (Patrick Rothfuss I'm looking at you) and now that it's finished I'm fulfilling my vow.

This one was not great. It basically re-tells the story line of the Bennetts and the kidney thieves

The show is based on the Book Fire in the Hole. The Book Raylan is based on the show which is based on the book Fire in the Hole.

I think Elmore just really liked what the show had done so he went ahead and wrote a book based on his favourite episodes

In my research it appeared to me that the show producers made their own Raylan character just loosely based on the Fire in the Hole book and took the show in it's own direction.
