But this isn't what you said. You specifically referrenced that Canada has never won on Olympic ice with NHL players.

If you'd like to say you feel they have an advantage because they'll be playing on home ice, go ahead. If you'd like to say you feel they're more accustomed to olympic size ice, then go ahead. But pointing to the fact that Canada has never won on Olympic ice with NHL players, and therefore that makes Russia better, is just plain stupid. Get it? You could say the EXACT same thing about Russia. If anything, that's an argument for Sweden being the favourite. Not Russia or Canada.

He implies that the Canadian Juggernaut will face any serious opposition in 2014, if NHLers play.

I pointed out, to him, that Canada's track record on Olympic sized ice does not support such a bold prediction.

He also totally disregards the fact that the Russians will be playing at home, on the ice size that they're most comfortable on.

I suggested to him that the Russians would be the "juggernaut" ergo the favourites.

The only Juggernaut at the 2014 Olympics, IF the NHL Shuts down for the better part of a month, will be the team representing the host country.

Look, this is very simple. You’re free to your opinion that you feel Russia is the favourite to win the Olympics. That’s fine. You’re welcome to your opinion that because they’re on home ice, that’s an advantage. That’s probably somewhat true. You’re welcome to your opinion that Olympic size ice is an advantage to Russia. I believe if there is any advantage due to the ice size, it’s negligible, for reasons stated earlier. Again, difference of opinion. It’s my opinion that Canada’s players are better than Russia’s, and that puts them at an advantage. Just my opinion.

But when you try to use “Canada has never won on Olympic ice, therefore at a disadvantage, and that makes Russia the favourite”, it’s just plain flawed logic, when you can say the same about Russia. Don’t you understand that? It’s like saying “this bicycle is the best, because it has two tires”…….
