If Briere were to play center regularly through at least a considerable stretch, do you think he would have looked better defensively at that position? - BulliesPhan87
To be honest, no.
I think at center his defense is more obviously lacking. At center you have to be on the ball defensively.

Actually, my issue with Howard is that he still strikes out way too much and his most glaring issue as a hitter-i.e. facing lefthanders-has not seen enough of an improvement in the past few seasons. - Jsaquella
My comment was a (bad, apparently) joke. I'm rusty, I guess, from seeing my time here being diminished.

Here is what we have going forward.

This almost makes me giddy!
They actually have picks and fair amount in the next 3 years.
Remember they'll also get a 5th rounder next year when they trade Carter for a 5th for cap space |

Seriously. If Spaghetti, his sire, or the wet blanket story from 2008-09 had come up, I'd know it was REALLY slow.
...crap. |

That's a pretty good return. There's been a lack of "_______ is the logical choice to be traded" posts lately. |

It's amazing what happens when we're under the cap. For the fun of it, I'll start:
Boucher is the logical choice to be traded*.
* = if we sign another goalie |

I think there was a few typo's
It was Carter
After the Gagne trade it became Carle
So the obvious next choice would be Carcillo if we stick to the Car them.

Carter sucks and he's a horrible player that should be traded for something useful |

Funny thing.
They rip Carter for being streaky yet last season he went 3+ games with out a point 5 times.
Richards went 3+ games with out a point 6 times.
Yet Carter is the streaky one not Richards!
Richards is Utley and Carter is Howard.
No matter what Carter and Howard do it's still not good enough, very odd. - Buts16
I think it's rooted in a perception that Richards works harder out there, more consistently. Carter seems to be a bit...aloof? Sometimes? maybe when he's not scoring, as others mentioned? I guess Richie disappears once in a while too...(usually to come back with a vengeance) but I think he's seen as more of a blood and guts type, an emerging leader, in the Clarkie mold and thus is given more leeway by most...I think it's frustrating sometimes with Carter because, as good as he is, he could be a lot better...if he has another so-so season, do we pay him top dollar in anticipation he will still develop to the next level or pay him for his current value, which is about what he's making now?
