He doesn't suck.
This is like arguing religon with you guys...
I say i want him traded... and you all act like i crucified jesus...
I only want him out because of his upcoming UFA and for what he brings to the table IN MY OPINION isn't worth that kind of money.
We lost Knuble and his goals... no big deal.. we lose lupul and his goals.. no big deal...
If we lose Carter and his goals, someone else will make them up.
I think that the only way to really know if we'd miss him is if he was traded. To sit here and say oh we'll miss that.. and we'll miss this.. is speculation. Nothing more.
The Carter lovers are acting like Liberals.. my crap smells terrible.. and your's don't stink... you're right.. and everyone else is wrong.. no room for compromise until you've converted everyone to your beliefs. - Nopointshot
Actually, as a guy who likes Jeff Carter, my issue is when people just post that he's lazy, isn't a good two way player and that he sucks and other such nonsense. The monetary concerns are very real, but Carter's a RFA next summer. If somebody signs him to a huge offer sheet, the Flyers will have a ton of draft pick compensation and the cap room to replace him.
Far too many of the "Carter Sucks" folks simply dismiss that he's an outstanding young player, which leads the people who want Carter to stay to react in the manner you hate so much. |

If you're gonna trade a dude, strictly for cap room, you trade the injury prone 30 year old, with the bigger hit, who will be a UFA in the summer...not the 25 year old, who is in the top 5 goal scorers fvor the past 2 years, and is a RFA next summer.
It's science. |

Hampton only serves half warm sausage patties.
the rest of their stuff isn't usually too bad. |

Unless you think the younger RFA is unsignable or will demand SO much of your cap space that you can't sign 4 other players. |

One of three things happens:
a) They re-sign Carter
b) He signs an offer sheet and they match
c) He signs an offer sheet, they refuse to match and get 4 1st rounders and a poopload of cap room to re-sign Giroux, et al.....and a free agent. |

I am concerned that the following is what will happen:
They sign Carter and don't have enough cap space to sign Giroux, Leino, Zerdev, Carcillo. they are replaced by 4 Nodls. |

Have a feeling Carter is going to be signed long term soon and not for as much as people think.
I hope he gets Richards money and goes on to become a 40 goal scorer for the next 6-8 years.
win win for everybody.

I really think this is what is going to happen. The Years may not be as long, but I think the cap hit will be similar.

If they can sign him for that and bring back giroux and either Leino or Zerdev, I would feel much better |
