that's one game leino was a beast throughout every game - NJFlyersFan
19 games isn't exactly a great sample size either. Don't get me wrong, he was fantastic, as was that entire line. But Carter is still the better player.
I don't know, I'm coming into the conversation alittle late. Now if we're talking about who's the better player, Delmore or Desjardins, then you have to look at the fact that Desjardins was able to accomplish what Delmore has and then some.

no so trade carter - NJFlyersFan
No, so who was a monster and who wasn't argument doesn't hold much weight. But hardly does it suggest trading Carter just because you don't like him hold much weight either.

I was just disagreeing with another poster that simply because Leino was far better in these recent playoffs than Carter was, that he is the better player. I equate this to how I trick my one year old niece to saying that she likes me better than my older brother just by saying my name last.

that makes no sense if someone is better on average in the playoffs they're better than another player

Delmore has never proven to be a well rounded top defender. He's always been offensive, but weak in his own end like a Sandis Ozolinsh. Now, even though Leino isn't known for his defensive play, he controls and hangs on to the puck so well that I think he really could match Jeff Carter's skill. Correct me if I'm wrong but Carter was drafted to the NHL and Leino was not, so Carter has a slight advantage because he's played in the NHL longer. Leino could very well turn out to be better.

Who will be better this year? Carter or Leino? - Duran76
I can't see into the future, Leino showed he has alot of skill and made a real impact early the moment he became a regular on the roster. However, Carter is an all situations player. Carter is also NOT a point per game player and Leino has yet to play a full season in the NHL.

I'll re-phrase. Who do you realistically think is going to be the better player next year? I'll take either an educated or uneducated guess since you just made it clear you can't see into the future.

Carter had 84 points in 82 games in the last full season he played.
