What did the Devils, Sabres, and Bruins win last year? If the Bruins could score, the Flyers wouldn't have gone to the finals.

If you well aware of what team D is, then why are so focused on the defenseman? This team is able to withstand the loss of a Dman far more easily than the loss of Carter.

Unless you've got something new here, I'm done discussing this with you.

didnt the flyers just have their most memorable comeback in history without carter? They didnt need him then. He was rather unspectacular these playoffs.

More logic that for the life me I can't understand. So having a healthy Carter on top of his game wouldn't have helped the Flyers in the playoffs. They wouldn't have had a better chance to beat the Hawks? Common sense if you ask me.

And the broken feet issue is legitimate. More simple common sense, but that's just my opinion.

If the guy is that hurt that it inhbits his ability to play his game, then he should never have re-entered the lineup. Im not saying we are better with him in the lineup, but at some point you have more talent than you need to win. carter is not that big of a "difference maker" like other top players in the league.

Also, as meltzer said, his broken feet cannot explain the brain cramps he had on the ice.

And why does carter get a free pass for sucking because he has broken feet? If he is a top player in this league, like everyone thinks he is or should be, shouldnt you be expected to perform if you are healthy enough to play? would crosby and datsyuk get a free pass? Gaborik is always hurt, yet he still puts up the numbers. Gagne came back early from his own broken foot, and he immediately dominated in the boston series.

My feeling is that you overrate carter, there is an excuse for everything about him, besides the fact that maybe he just isnt as great as everyone thinks. I like carter, I would love to have him on the flyers, but not for 7M/yr. He is just not THAT good. he has to be reasonably priced. I would like him for 6M or under.

Players play all the time with injuries that inhibit their ability to play. Should they not play also? And Carter at 70% or whatever, is better than other players healthy. So if he's able to gut it out and go, then he should absolutely play.
You can have more talent than you need to win? What does that mean? So when you get to the point where you feel you have enought talent to win, you shouldn't look to improve your team. Or add players to the lineup to make you a better team? Doesn't make a lot of sense.
So adding your top offensive player and goal scorer to the linup, wouldn't be a difference maker? Any top player on any team is a difference maker. You lose a top layer from your lineup, it makes a difference.
I think you have an obvious bias against Carter, because your statements don't make a lot of sense in my opinion.

Absolutely injuries can affect your dxecision making on the ice. No question.

Who's given Carter a free pass? You don't think playing with two broken feet is a factor in a player's play? To think anything differently is ridiculous. What type of injuries are we talking about? Are we talking about foot injuries where a player can't skate, misses 11 playoff games and then is reinserted into the lineup to try and play at playoff pace and intensity when he's missed that amount of time and isn't in top game shape? This is simple common sense. Gagne didn't dominate the Boston series. he scored a big OT goal. And did you notice how the inury caught up to Gagne in later Series. And he just had a broken toe. Not two broken feet. And how many games did Gagne miss? How long was he out of the linuep? You compare the two situations but are obviously missing some of the key details.

You can have that feeling if you'd like but that doesn't make it so. You can't substantiate that feeling. You would have to know exactly what I think of Carter, and you obviously don't know that based on your comments. I know exactly what Carter is and isn't. I know exactly what type of player he is and what he's worth to his team. You obviously don't based on your comments on this subject. And as far as what he's worthsalary wise, many don't understand the NHL salary structure and how it works.

Um, you don't know either. You know what YOU think he is worth. You make this statement like it is fact when in reality it is your opinion.
So unless you are a member of the flyers brass, you should start stating that this is your opinion of carter or any other player.
Just like the rest of us commoners.

Yes, I do know. If you know the game and pay attention, you know what type of player Carter is and what he's worth. It's not difficult.

Sorry to ask this Paul, but why did you sign Shelley? Also, why did you speak about the trade worth of Gagne so highly, then basically just give him away?

I didn't say that. Your words not mine. But there is basic common sense involved.

If you want to discuss issues that don't directly relate to the sport of Hockey, I'm not interested. So unless you have something else, I'm done here.
