I think Niginla would cost too much to really be worth it at this point in his career. He's pushing mid 30's ... And I'm pretty sure Calgary would want some of our key pieces in return. In 2013/14, he'll be a UFA... If he doesn't re-sign in Calgary, that would be the time to pursue him ... He'll be 36, but likely cheaper than his current 7 mil-per and hopefully still with some gas left in the tank.

Kane, on the other hand .... - JEFF SPICOLI
Yeah, i've got jungle fever for Kane, too
Jarome......players chasing cups like him and Doan might want to come here to pull a Ray Bourque.

We need to get guys like that via free agency and not trade ... They need to decide that they want a chance at a CUP. They have to decide to walk away from their respective teams when their contracts expire and sign with us in the offseason.
Trading for these kinds of guys will only hurt us, as their current teams will no-doubt want a big return.

Totally agree. Our organizational depth may be a bit of an illusion.
Hey, do you think Harvard is picturing the Rolston acquisition like the Recchi one?
Maybe a little ... Although I think Rex had a bit more left in the tank when he arrived than Rolston does.
Rex is also on an entirely different level than Rolston altogether ... But Rolston does bring veteran experience. I hope he comes back to life here. - JEFF SPICOLI
I'm glad we got a vet, but I agree about him being on the tail end of a really solid career. Rex was going to the HOF based on his career a decade ago. Rolston isn't that guy. Just a solid player you can put in any situation. If he has anything left in the tank, this might be the best landing spot for him, which would be a big help for us.
ah ok. so because he was upset it is ok to take a cheap shot on a guy without the puck.
hmmn
i'm not saying every time he hits someone he has to fight, hell he drilled krecji with a clean hit and that was ok. when you drill thornton from behind, take out st. louis knee, make a dangerous hit on an unsuspecting player without the puck and play on edge he should have to back it up. otherwise play clean and less aggressive. don't cheap shot because you are upset you got drilled (with the ref 5 feet away). - salvadorsanchez
No Malone made a questionable him on him so he did the same. May not have been the best thing to do but come on it is not the end of the world like you make it seem. There was nothing wrong with the St Louis hit and the Thornton was questionable but not as bad as the Malone hit. Malone made the first questionable hit so what is the big deal. He is not a fighter so if you make a dirty hit on him good on him to do the same back.

Malones "questionable" hit was right in front of the ref and was not penalized. Also it is not as bad as the one emelin put on thornton. Not even close. Later you call the same "questionable" hit "dirty" and even though it is a penalty you applaud the "retaliation" hit? Emelin played the puck and then was rubbed out, Malone was no where near the puck and got blindsided. I award you no points. Take off the rouge glasses. The kid is ulfie 2.0 and will get his face broken again soon if he keeps it up

What is your point about the ref being there? Do you really have your head up your a$$ and think the refs don't miss anything? I don't applaud it, i just think if you hit someone from behind you are in no position to complain if you get a dirty hit back. If Malone doesn't hit him then i bet Emelin doesn't do what he did. I disagree and i think the Malone hit is worse than Emelin on thornton. I don't think either hit is overly dirty maybe a 2 min penalty. I think you are making a big deal out of nothing, you are the one that needs to take the glasses off

Ference apparently injured last night
Andrew Ference day to day

Andrew Ference is a day-to-day situation, said Claude Julien. Ference suffered a lower-body injury in last night’s win. Julien has not ruled Ference out of tomorrow’s game.
If Ference is unavailable, Mike Mottau would go back in.
* Johnny Boychuk didn’t take much contact in practice today. The Bruins focused on power-play work. While Boychuk said he’d prefer to take some hits before playing, he could be cleared for game action without participating in a full practice.
* Julien acknowledged it might take some time for Brian Rolston to get back into top shape. Rolston had missed time with a concussion. “I think he’ll only get better with time,” Julien said. “His ice time was limited. He probably doesn’t have his full wind for the long haul. We also know that when he’s in top shape, he can certainly skate. That’s one of his strengths. I anticipate him getting better.”

One would have to think that If Zanon continues to play responsible D like he did last night, Corvo will be the odd man out when everyone is healthy - JEFF SPICOLI
Zanon was great. Everything you want from a 3rd pairing guy. Like a smaller, quicker Wolf. He was on for that Clarkson goal but it was a wierd one.
Late to the party but I don't have much problem with any of those Emelin hits. The Epic turtle was hilarious and fitting given the jersey but those hip checks were fine. I actually thought the questionable hit in the first video was Malone on Emelin before I got to the end.

Nice that you are not letting your hatred of the team affect your judgement. I agree that the Malone was the worse even though that really wasn't that bad.

Some of the hits are clean according to the rules but you cant tell me he's not trying to hurt the other guy. Like seriously injure. If you want to thorw hits that could potentially end a career be prepared to defend yourself. I think thats the main issue.
