Caron is definitely the front runner age/dues paid-wise .... But don't be surprised if he's passed by Spooner. I'm telling you, this kid is the real deal ... - JEFF SPICOLI
Knight makes it before Spooner I think. His game is more complete from an NHL-ready standpoint. Spooner has the higher offensive upside and is more likely to be the better player, but I think it will take him more time to get there. |

harry was interviewed after the finals and admitted he had regrets for not going for the "one or two" players needed to get them over the top....especially the teams in the last 80's and 90's.
way too many opportunities were wasted with those teams - Toad in Nj

Does anyone actually think that he "missed" him on that play? Look at it as many
times as you want, if he wanted to actually kill him, he could have... He hit the board
on purpose...
As a Habs fan, we all know he can't do a tight turn without falling, other than that,
he's great. Good pick-up for the black and piss Teddy-Bears (We'll still beat you...
don't get me wrong... loll) - DrDoom

How about you add silver to that, D-wad? |

Seguin
From everything I've seen and read, Knight is custom built for the B's. Great character and determination, does everything hard, lives to drive the net, built like a tank, plays both ways, speed to burn and a ridiculous shot. Claude's wet dream. He's not flashy like Spooner, and he may top out as a Kobasew-esque player (hopefully he fulfills his offensive upside a little better at the NHL level), but he's built for the pro game. |

Camp wrap, Day 5

WILMINGTON -- The Bruins wrapped up their fifth annual development camp with their second scrimmage in the last two days.
Overall, Claude Julien was pleased with what he saw. Julien watched the last two scrimmages and trained his eyes not just on high-end picks like Dougie Hamilton, Jared Knight, Ryan Spooner, and Tommy Cross, but some of the lower-tier players too.
"I've also seen some other guys that caught my eye as well," Julien said. "It's just a matter of staying on top of things and seeing where some of the guys down on the road might fit in."
Today's lineup:
Team Black
Justin Florek-Ryan Spooner-Brian Ferlin
Alex Fallstrom-Ben Sexton-Josh Jooris
Rob O'Gara-Ryan Button
David Warsofsky-Zach Trotman
Mike Hutchinson
Team White
Jared Knight-Craig Cunningham-Anthony Camara
Alexander Khokhlachev-Brett Olson-Tyler Randell
Tommy Cross-Steven Spinell
Marc Cantin-Dougie Hamilton
Zane Gothberg/Lars Volberg
Anthony Camara got a scare when he missed a check and went headfirst into one of the stanchions. But Camara shook off the injury and finished the session.
* GM Peter Chiarelli said he continues to negotiate with Brad Marchand's agent.
* Benoit Pouliot is from Alfred, Ontario, approximately an hour east of Ottawa, which Julien has called home. Julien compared Pouliot to Nathan Horton -- a young, skilled, high-round pick with questions regarding his consistency. Pouliot projects to be a third-line wing. "He's going to be a really good acquisition," Julien said. "His skill level is extremely high. I know a lot of people seem to think he's underachieved. At the same time, we feel that we probably will be able to give him a better opportunity here with the space that's open for him. From what I saw when he played with Montreal, there were times he was really physical. We saw him fight with [David] Krejci, but also be involved in the corners and being physically engaged. In this surrounding here, knowing he's got good support -- our team has everybody's backs -- I think it's going to be a better situation for him. At the same time, we expect him to come in and demonstrate his skills and use the skills that everybody thinks he has."
* Ryan Spooner and Jared Knight could push for NHL jobs in training camp. But Chiarelli issued a reminder of the tier above them, which includes Jordan Caron, Jamie Arniel, and Max Sauve. The guess here is that Spooner and Knight go back to junior if everything remains status quo.
Nothing about Hamill. My guess is they give him a shot and move him during camp...

The NHL signed a "memorandum of understanding" with Russia's KHL to regulate player transitions between the two leagues.
Although there still is no formal transfer agreement, both sides are required to respect a player's contract with the other league. Both leagues also must complete a range of procedures to avoid conflicts when players move between the NHL and KHL.
The agreement, signed last week by NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly and KHL president Alexander Medvedev, is in effect until June 30, 2012.
"We believe that the achievement of a consensus on the status of hockey players in both leagues will reflect positively on the broader development of the sport of hockey," Medvedev said in a statement released by the NHL.
The NHL and KHL signed a similar agreement before the start of the 2010-11 season.
Much of the ill will between the leagues started when star winger Alexander Radulov abandoned a contract with the Nashville Predators and signed a deal in the KHL in summer 2008. |

Ryan Button was again the most polished-looking defenseman on the ice. With size to match his puck and skating abilities, Button has made a strong case to be considered as a Dark-Horse candidate to make the NHL squad in the Fall. In addition to the aforementioned exploits in moving the puck with Spooner, Button made another move on the blueline to dish the puck behind him while under pressure that bordered on the ridiculous. His spin-o-rama shootout attempt was denied by an aggressive move by Volden, but don’t forget that Button plays sound and physical defensive hockey, too. His poise with the puck in his own end makes breakout concerns completely unwarranted when he’s on the ice.
Marc Cantin’s Camp performance has grown on me over these five days. He’s an excellent skater (maybe not the equal of Button or Warsofsky, but he more than gets the job done.) He plays physical, delivering hard bone-crunching checks at every opportunity. He’s got good hands, makes solid passes with great regularity and is a willing rusher of the puck. In one bold move he skated the puck forward from the tops of the defensive circles, head- and stick-faked two members of the opposition before making a smart, efficient dump-in and charging in on the fore-check. Withcontinued improvement, I don’t doubt this kid’s NHL potential for a second.

Sounds like we'll have some decent depth beyond Kampfer and Bartkowski this year for #7 and in Providence. That'll be nice. Sounds like Cantin could be a solid stay at home guy, Button a slick 2-way guy with some size. Interested to see how they fare at regular camp.
PC may have to move some pieces ... lots of bodies on the back end for Providence this year. Curious that they brought Bodnarchuk back. |

I'm good with those two. I liked Lombardi 2 years ago....now we'll get to see plenty of him in Toronto.....Kyle Turris might not be a bad pick-up.
Doan is a Bruin at heart, and Yandle is one of the best all-around young defenseman in the game....and he's from Southie.
Nah, just those 2.
Now if we were talking LA.....if only there was a way to get Kopitar |

Yeah if I had to pick a guy in the league who I'd like in a B's uni, just because..., it'd have to be Doan. That would be cool. |

Don't think there's a tonne of blue chippers on the back end (Hamilton aside), but it does sound like we've got lots of guys in the pipeline that could turn out to be solid 4-6 guys which is great. Button and Cross sound like they could turn out to be decent second pairing guys with some offensive upside (probably at best), if even one turns out to be legit, that's good news. |

guy shows up to play in big games. See him on Team Canada? The Russians must still have nightmares about going into a corner with Morrow on the ice that game. |
