The Detroit Red Wings welcomed Ty Conklin back to the team on Wednesday by signing the veteran goalie to a one-year contract. The 35-year-old played for St. Louis last season and was 8-8-4 in 25 appearances. He played for the Red Wings in 2008-09 and has also spent time with Edmonton, Columbus, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh

Realistically though his cap hit is not hurting us yet. It's his play thats hurting us. We have quite a bit of cap room left because of quite a few entry level deals. Worse case scenario is we bury the contract. The franchise can very easily afford to.
