Lots of conflicting reports coming out on Belak. Was depressed, was happy, not natural causes, foul play not suspected, is suicide, isn't suicide. Curious what actually happened. |

Chris Clark accepts tryout invitation from Bruins
Link|Comments (2) Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff September 5, 2011 03:50 PM
Veteran forward Chris Clark will attend Bruins camp on a tryout basis, according to agent Peter Fish.
The 35-year-old Clark, a native of South Windsor, Conn., will contend for a bottom-six spot. Clark, a four-year Clarkson star, appeared in 53 games for Columbus last year. Clark scored five goals and 10 assists.
Clark was Washington’s captain for four seasons. Clark was traded to Columbus along with ex-Bruin Milan Jurcina for Jason Chimera on Dec. 28, 2009. |

the jackass rode his bike
"as part of his day with the Stanley Cup, Andrew Ference brought the trophy this morning to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Ference has been visiting Spaulding since his arrival in Boston and didn’t consider anywhere else when planning his day.
“After seeing the work they do here with the patients and some of the adaptive sports programs, I’m blown away by the patients,” Ference said. “But also by the staff. When we think of people we want to share it with in the city, we’ve got our close friends, the kids’ friends, our family, and people like this.”
Ference shuttled the Cup to and from Spaulding aboard a bike trailer. Ference was accompanied by Boston police officers on bike detail.
“He chose to spend part of his day at Spaulding,” said Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. “That tells you the quality of the individual.”
After his visit, Ference rode back toward the North End, where he makes his in-season home. Ference will spend the rest of the day in his neighborhood with the Cup." |

I'm not surprised, very embarrassing. Every time this guy takes a step forward in the respect department he takes two steps back, ie: bring cup to hospital then do some flash / attention whoring / glee style dance in the middle of the street. I know he may have a god / bono from U2 complex but to parade yourself around like this takes the cake. He is a serviceable 2nd-3rd pairing, undersized, oft-injured defenseman with some "personality", reel it the (frank) in, you are embarrassing yourself and the bruins. |

TUNOSHNA, Russia -- A Russian jet carrying a top hockey team crashed into a river bank Wednesday while taking off in western Russia, killing 43 people and leaving two others critically injured, officials said.
The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said the Yak-42 crashed in sunny weather immediately after leaving an airport near the city of Yaroslavl, on the Volga River, 240 kilometres northeast of Moscow.
It said the plane was carrying the Lokomotiv hockey team from Yaroslavl to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, where it was to play Thursday against Dynamo Minsk in the opening game of the season of the Kontinental Hockey League. The ministry said it was carrying 45 people, including 37 passengers and eight crew, and two people survived the crash.
It wasn't immediately clear which players were on board the Yak-42. Officials said player Alexander Galimov survived the crash along with a crewmember.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin immediately sent his transport minister to the site, 15 kilometres east of Yaroslavl.
The plane that crashed was relatively new, built in 1993, and belonged to a small Yak Service company.
Lokomotiv Yaroslavl is a leading force in Russian hockey and came third in the KHL last year. The team's coach is Canadian Brad McCrimmon, who took over in May. A native of Saskatchewan, the 52-year-old was most recently an assistant coach with the Detroit Red Wings, and played 18 years in the NHL for Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Hartford and Phoenix.
The Russian team also featured several top European players and former NHL stars, including Slovakian forward and national team captain Pavol Demitra, who played in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks.
Other top names include forward Josef Vasicek of the Czech Republic, Czech defenceman Karel Rachunek, Russian defencemen Ruslan Salei and Karlis Skrastins, and Swedish goalie Stefan Liv.
