Today the Calgary Flames hired away Bruins Director of Pro and Collegiate Scouting John Weisbrod as their new assistant general manager under Jay Feaster.
Weisbrod joined the Bruins in September 2006. He previously had returned to hockey from the NBA as a scout for the Dallas Stars. In his role with the Bruins, Weisbrod was instrumental in identifying the likes of Steven Kampfer and Matt Bartkowski before the Bruins traded for them.

i see a lot of bergy in caron
i think the kid is going to be a really solid player
not top 3 but from what i have seen i think he can be an all around top 6 guy
time will tell
i think peverley is the one who will break out in a big way next season
give him ice time with the top two lines and I would not be surprised to see him get 30 - 35

OK, so assuming Savvy is done and Ryder is not re-signed, there is 1 roster spot open for a forward... Agree with Toad here, let the kids play. I've said before that I think Spooner could make the team out of camp, and Caron is ready as well. If Spooner goes back to juniors, let one of the other kids battle it out: Arniel, Hamill, MacDermid .... I'd rotate that kid in and out with Kelly and Paille.
Milan Lucic | David Krejci | Nathan Horton
Brad Marchand | Patrice Bergeron | Rich Peverley
Ryan Spooner | Chris Kelly | Tyler Seguin
Daniel Paille | Gregory Campbell | Shawn Thornton
Extra: Jordan Caron
As for D, we've also got 1 spot open, and hopefully it's not for Kaberle. I'd like to see:
Zdeno Chara | Dennis Seidenberg
Andrew Ference | Joni Pitkanen
Johnny Boychuk | Adam McQuaid
Extra: Kampfer
Goaltenders ... We're set.
Tim Thomas
Tuukka Rask
So really, we just need to get Marchand a new contract and sign a defenceman ... Ideally Pitkanen. Hopefully not Raymond.
Pretty chill offseason for PC ... Hopefully he works on the goaltending situation in Providence. - JEFF SPICOLI
Do you think some GM trying to save his job will sign Raymond for like 5 years 20 million? He has cup experience
I'd like to see a forward and a D who have been in the NHL for a few years who wants a cup come to town....I want Doan....but I'd be OK with Laich or Joel Ward
And even though we are set in net...move Tuuka for Yandle and sign the Russian as Timmay's backup

Also, not (frank)ing around too much and spending to the cap with longer term contracts allows us to keep the core intact when contracts expire at the end of next season ...
Would love to see Brad Richards in the Spoked B though - JEFF SPICOLI
I agree to a point but I still think we can be progressive. Don't really want him to say we won the Cup, everything is perfect. If the right player(s) is out there, O or D, I'd say make the team better now. Go for another one!!!
With the addition of Peverley and Horton last year as well as Marchand's emergence, and some promising kids, it just means we can be extremely selective up front. Don't know if we can just say Caron or Spooner or even 19 are ready for big every-night minutes. At this point I'd have to concede that the brass knows best on that.
I wouldn't be surprised or upset if we got two D-men, be it Kaberle and someone else or two new guys. If Boychuk or McQauid have to be forsaken for a better player I'd be OK with it. And Kampfer -- I maybe learned a lesson myself in putting too much stock in Hunwick. Again, gonna have to trust the VIP's.
He's got some room to make us a huge force without sacrificing signing our big guns down the road. Use it wisely IF YOU CAN. |

Completely agree on moving a Boychuk / Kampfer if the right deal comes along. I think Quaider is a keeper though. The guy plays a safe, steady, and reliable game.
The Rask for Yandle thing is something that could make Boychuk expendable .... Rask due for a raise next season and Yandle signed long-term negates that. We then dump Boychuk for a pick/prospect and still have the cap space for Pitkanen.
Chiarelli would really have to be on his game about the future of the goaltending in this case though ... As CBB said, we'd be 1 Thomas injury away from (frank)town. He'd need to sign/trade for a reliable backup (Schneider / Khudobin) this offseason and still fill the gap in Providence. We'd go from having a position which needs to be addressed to desperation ... And thats when the other GM's smell blood and can back you into a corner. I don't see anyone wanting to help out the Stanley Cup champs ... |

Agree with all except I'd maybe rather have Boychuk than McQuaid.
Would deal Rask for Yandle without blinking myself. Just me I know.
Chara Yandle
Seidenberg Pitkanen
Ference Boychuk
...would be sick. Not only would we have the best D by a mile but we would also NOT be one D injury away from huge trouble.

Some goalies can last into their 40's
But, with the exception of Hasek, they usually play a traditional style. I've had this conversation in my head a few times.....does Timmay's style wear on his body too much where he can't go for a few more years? |

3 years for $3mil or under and I can live with it
you know what you will hear.."you could see that he was becoming more comfortable as the playoffs went along. We think that now that he is acclimated himself to the pace of the game the way it's played here..that he will be an important part of our transition game and pp moving forward.
He realizes that he doesn't have to carry this team like he did in Toronto, he just needs to do his job and everything else will work itself out" |

Kaberle not an option ... Either do the Yandle thing, sign Ehrhoff, or sign the (frank)ing Wiz.

Kaberle among the noteable free agents on Friday. Doesn't rule out the Bruins from signing him... if the market isn't as strong as expected.
Sounds to me like the Bruins are exploring other options |
