I feel bad for Cunneyworth, poor guy just takes a job offer then essentially has his bosses publicly state they'll fire him as soon as they can find a french guy to appease the idiots. I understand the preference to have a bilingual coach in Montreal, but the outcry is ridiculous. To be fair to Habs fans I would suggest that most couldn't actually give a sh!t less what language the guy speaks, its all political posturing.

makes you question why he took the job anyway...french issue...cruddy team...seems like a no win situation...

Dougie and Koko have both been fantastic this game. Doesn't hurt Koko playing with Kuznetsov and Yakupov but he's been good on the PK too ... future looking alright

He's now a head coach. padding the resume for another gig where language isn't an issue. Eyes will be watching how he handles himself

Last night was definitely his best game by a large margin. You can certainly see what the brass likes about him. Huge frame, great vision, good skating, hard shot that he can get on net. That said, in the earlier games you're right, he seemed to struggle big time with his decision making. Had some real nice open ice hits, but not always at the best time, and that didn't seem to translate into toughness in the corners and along the boards either. Lots of learning to do on his defensive game and I think that keeps him in Jr's next year, but his skill set and physical attributes are awesome. Hopefully he can put it all together.

First time I'd seen Koko play last night and I was super impressed. I like his drive, goes hard to the net (unfortunately for Wedgewood), battles hard on the boards and faceoffs plus has a solid offensive skill set. Not all that big or fast, but I think he could turn out to be a real good NHL player.

Flames Recall Raitis Ivanans

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today that forward Raitis Ivanans has been recalled from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League.

Ivanans, a native of Riga, Latvia, has one goal and two assists and 15 penalty minutes in 13 games with the Abbotsford Heat this season. This will be his first call-up with the Flames this season after the 2010-11 season with a head injury.
