i was pretty high on gleason. he did some yapping then ducking out of fights earlier this year vs the b's but i think he's got good size and stable player. not sure about ruuttu but he's pretty good. like baldy said, must be easy transition.

For this reason alone I think Gleason would be a bad move, I don't know how much of this stuff these guys hold onto, but it's pretty clear Horton/Lucic have a beef with him. If not upsetting the chemistry is the key, doesn't seem like bringing a guy some of your core players have a hate on for is a wise idea. He's a good player, but not sure he's the right fit.

Ruutuu would be a good forward add, although not sure where he slots when all are healthy, quite honestly I think Sh!thead has earned his spot in the top 9.

I like Corey Sarich as a rental on the back end.

Gleason's a good player and definitely not a chickensh!t, as ducking a fight might imply. And I think this team can adapt to any role guy coming in. Poopoo wasn't exactly loved by some of the guys on this team and he had a poor rep coming in, unlike Gleason.

I hate the idea of Ruutu, absolutely hate it.

A top 4 of Chara, seidenberg, Gleason, corvo / boychuck would be really good. Defensive depth

All we really need is a couple of guys who could be plugged in for an injured VET because I dont really have a ton of faith in Dorth and Caron when we get into the thick of things. Guys who will understand that role and will be ready to play when called upon.

I wonder if a guy like Pandolfo has anything left to give?

Doubt it.

Offensively, I would still love Whitney. He'd look great on 3rd line and PP.

Last year of contract, still has sick puck skills, proven winning tude.

Cost?

Whitney is a nice choice. Excellent playmaker. If the Yotes dont turn it around so it's likely they will look to dump some vets. Not exactly sure where he could fit with the way Pouliot is playing but that bubble will likely burst at some point anyway.

And 2nd and a mid level prospect?

How about Whitney and Aucoin?

Hamill, 2nd, so-so prospect.

Only problem is if you get Whitney he has to play and be in top 3 line. Upside is he can play on any of them easily.

Hamill, 2nd and Bodnarchuk

for

Whitney and Aucoin.

I'd do that.

Whitney and Peverley would be a pretty dynamic pair on a third line. Tons of speed and skill.

Good.

Again, problem is with Whitney is someone, (Poo) gets displaced. Hard to justify that at this point.

...and it's probably not enough going out with the rental market being what it is.

Don't think that gets it done. At deadline Whitney pulls a late first easy IMO.

Probably....also the Yotes are still very much in the hunt. I'm obviously happy with the lineup, especially if Pouliot can keep up the hussle. My only concern is a vet injury. Hamill doesn't strike me as a playoff mucker. He's still in a kid's body. Caron would be able to play I think but you still like having that option of inserting a vet in there.

In a (frank)ing heartbeat! (I don't know what his contract status is, but assuming its not stupid, (frank) yeah)

Forwards I think we can absorb a loss or two and survive. D on the other hand . The thought of Steve Kampfer in the playoffs scares the sh!t out of me.

Yes. Defenseman take a toll in the playoffs. Need another vet back there. Always good to have some depth even up front as well.

$1.2m per signed through next year is the only issue. Also an injury concern the way he plays for his size.

I always liked Jim Vandermeer as a depth dman. Very physical. Cheap. Doubt The Sharks part with him. A guy in his mold would be perfect.

I don't think PHX is looking for prospects at this point.

Doan is having a down year. They need a playoff push to make waves and potentially keep the team in town. I doubt Whitney is up for grabs unless it's for immediate help.
