Z named AS captain, nice for him going back to Ottawa. Can't imagine that will make the draft compelling TV though Not exactly Mr. Personality. - Double_A
I hope Kessel is the last kid picked.
I bet the kids playing dodgeball on the Wisconsin playgrounds always targeted his fat ass first.

i mentioned as much to a guy that worked closely with lou for years at dinner one night and he said "you got that right" - Toad in Nj
Kovalchuk would do a lot better on a more offensive-minded team ....
Chara and Kessel had their run-ins over No. 81's toughness and commitment to hard work while Phil the Thrill was in Boston, but the 6-foot-9 defenseman appeared to have no qualms taking him on his All-Star team. And if Kessel turns about to be the NHL All-Star game version of Mr. Irrelevant again, then he'll get another new car out of the deal.
"I don't know. We'll see how it goes. Somebody has to go last," said Chara with a smile on his face. "I don't know if they'll have a car for him or something else . . . we'll see how it goes."

He's a bad fit for the Devils.
What do you guys think happens with Parise? - JEFF SPICOLI
Will be interesting.
All reports are he likes it here.. but to me, if he could go to a hockey city with a chance to win, with strong ownership...the pros of leaving would outweigh the cons imo
kid is an animal and would make anyone better
The Bruins have assembled their entire scouting staff in Fort Lauderdale this week for meetings — three days on amateurs (possible future draft picks) and three days on pros (possible trade targets). Suffice to say the B’s organization has come a long way in recent years in its scouting department.
“I told Pete (Chiarelli) I thought these were the smoothest and best meetings I’ve seen,” president Cam Neely said of the B’s general manager. “I thought the meetings went very well with the amateur guys the last couple of days. There was a lot of dialogue, which is what you want — guys pushing for what they think. This is only the mid-term meeting; the end-of-the season meetings will get a lot more vocal.
“It’s changed a lot from the first meetings I sat in on, that’s for sure. I just think the group understands each other a little bit better. They listen to each other and I think they work well together.
“From what I’ve seen, scouting has changed dramatically. There are a lot more scouts now. There were more area scouts years back, guys who stayed in their region. We still have area scouts, obviously, but we get a lot more crossover than we had before, so we get more viewings and more opinions on players. With all the new technology, the video, all that stuff, there’s a big difference.”

very good news. salary cap era means more homegrown talent is needed.
Will be interesting.

agree...NJ looks mediocre for the next while...not sure why he would want to stay there...would B's have a chance/cap room?
you'd think instead of picking names and teams out of a hat as "rumors" they could update this link. for (frank)s sake
here's capgeek. lots of ?'s next year. will be interesting to see if hamilton/spooner/knight/hamill/caron/sauve/macdermid/camper/warsowsky/bartowski make the jump.

A lot rides of the Tuuka reup. The way he has played, cant really expect him to take a cut. Wonder if he would be interested in a 3 year, $3.5m per year type of deal. Might sound high, but it would be a steal by the second year when Timmy comes off the books.
