Everyone loves Cole but from what I've seen, his play is borderline reckless.. which is why he is so injury prone. Cole will cost 3mill.. why not go after a skill LW like Sturm who is UFA and would cost a little more than Cole at around 3.5 mill ? Or cheaper LW options like Fleischmann, Miettinen or even Samsonov(who had a stellar past season!). Or solidify the weakened center position with a guy like Laich who would cost 3 mill or less.

I was very high on Versteeg when he came here, loved his play in Chicago and Toronto, but he's been a bust here in my eyes. I know he had a sports hernia and was playing thru that injury but I just think his 3 mill could be better spend on a skilled goal scorer like Sturm or any of the above mentioned UFA's.

Big thing about Cole is his past success for Laviolette.

As for potential drawbacks of the others:
-Sturm has been injury prone his whole career
-Fleishman is coming off blood clots in his lungs
-every Wild fan I know would love to dump Miettinen
-Samsonov... is Samsonov

I wouldn't mind Versteeg staying or going. I think him on a line with Simmonds and Schenn/other acquisition could be hell for opponents.

Honestly we all dont know what to expect. Homer went in and tried and tried to get younger and added alot of good young prospects. We added a excellent goalie. How can you say Bryz is over rated? Bryz has done alot in his time and this year wsa a bad year yes but with out him the yotes dont get into the playoffs. Last year he helped take the wings to 7 games. This past year lou was supposed to be a bust and got to the finals and since Price hasnt gotten that far yet we might as call him a bust to.

Look at the total picture of the team.

Carter and Richards were my favorite players... but they played on (more importantly) my favorite team.

We moved them both for: the #8 a 2nd rd pick, a 3rd round pick, Schenn, Simmonds, Voracek, the ability to sign Bryszgalov, resign Leino, and another forward/d-man.

The team, to me anyway, is much more well rounded today. We lost two highly impactive players right now, but with all the additions in the end, the team may end up better for it.

Also, there HAD to be other issues surrounding Richards and Carter that are not public.

I think there is enough skill in the lineup already.

I would like to see grittier vets like cole or laich or hordichuk as a few examples. Guys that know how to play good, responsible hockey and make this team toughto play against.
