Bryzgalov has a playoff career save % of .917 and GAA of 2.55.
Price has a career playoff career save % of .907 and GAA of 2.84... while having a much better team in front of him... - jak521
nicely played.. end of the defense is the key... and our d is better with Montreal cause Markov is still coming off another knee injury and even with him its still not as good as ours |

Everyone loves Cole but from what I've seen, his play is borderline reckless.. which is why he is so injury prone. Cole will cost 3mill.. why not go after a skilled LW 30 goal scorer like Marco Sturm who is UFA and would cost a little more than Cole at around 3.5 mill ? Or cheaper LW options like Fleischmann, Miettinen or even Samsonov(who had a stellar past season!). Or solidify the weakened center position with a guy like Laich who would cost 3 mill or less.
I was very high on Versteeg when he came here, loved his play in Chicago and Toronto, but he's been a bust here in my eyes. I know he had a sports hernia and was playing thru that injury but I just think his 3 mill could be better spent on Sturm or any of the above mentioned UFA's. - MrBigglesworth
Laich will cost you atleast 3.5 more likely closer to 4 mil.
Sturm is not a better player than Cole. Fleischmann is an interesting idea, so long as he doesnt have anymore PE's. Meittinen and Samsonov... ehhh |

That really doesnt paint the entire picture. Whether or not it means anything now, Bryz was just bad last playoffs. |

Sturm has major durability issues and he's been on the decline for the past few years. LA waived him last season, partly due to salary, but it also had to do with how far his game has fallen off. He used to be a weapon just based on his blazing speed, but these days he's just another smallish forward with some skill that is decent in his own zone -- or in other words, Andreas Nodl.
Versteeg's a good player, and w/ Richie gone, he's going to have to pick up some special teams slack. They could still offload him to FLA to possibly make room for Leino, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way.
What seems pretty clear now is that Homer is trying to get out of that corner he painted himself into w/ all the big contracts and offloading of youth/picks. Throwing money around at aging vets like Sturm/Cole/etc is not the kind of investment the Flyers need to be making during the summer. You can always add one of those old-timers at the deadline and it won't cost you much. - Tomahawk
If Versteeg is on the roster to start the season and the team is to count on him for production, he better take the perimeter playing, toe drag, drop pass at the blue line BS and leave it at home.
