Definitley nice to have that depth but is it worth it @ a position where only one guy can be in net at once??? - flyguy12
Why not? With all the RFA's signed and all the waivers/LTIR stuff squared away, they still have a ton of cap space. More than enough to re-sign Leino and carry Bob's bonuses this year until the bonus cushion is back next year. |

I'm pretty sure both of mine are enlarged... case a beer a week and 3 lbs or ground beef will do that to you. |

Versteeg would help them now. FLA needs to add salary. Dale Tallon, FLA GM, brought versteeg to CHI when he was GM there, so he is familiar with him. Will that get the flyers the #3 pick? I dont know. But i bet Versteeg goes to FLA. - BradTardforGM
I dont know that Versteeg is traded now that we have the cap to keep him. The only reason he was on the block before was because we had no space and needed to sign Bryz.
Either way, theres no way JUST Versteeg moves us up 5 spots into the top 3. Need another asset.
Tallon can just draft Landeskog and his salary will count on their cap. |

Wouldnt be surprise if he did, but i would be if that package worked out. Keep in mind other teams want to trade up too including Ottawa who would deal the 6th. That being the case I have a feeling that draft picks will stay relatively put tomorrow. |

Carter could be reunited with Umberger (on the LW), no? - Flyskippy
I thought Umberger was playing center for them. He could certainly move to wing. |

Schenn is actually bigger than Richards and Carter was playing the wing. We're technically bigger today down the middle than we were a week ago... - Tomahawk
By 1 inch while giving up 2 pounds, per hockeydb.com. I'd call it a wash. |

That is correct. I was just pointing out that they'd played on a line together before and Umberger was on the LW. |

He's a good player, but he's worth nowhere near what he's going to command as the top-UFA-by-default. He's had a couple of solid seasons in Dallas, but before that, he was one of the biggest salary-cap albatrosses out there.
Giroux -> Briere -> Schenn is a pretty good mix at center, IMO. - Tomahawk
Agreed.
With Betts and Giroux as the PK centermen, and Giroux and Briere as PP centermen.
Really kinda hoping they hang on to Versteeg. His versatility could be needed. If one of the top 3 centers go down, they don't have an adequate replacement (currently), and Versteeg could slide over temporarily. |

I dislocated my hip in 2008. I couldnt walk without crutches let alone play... i was still able to have a life. I was still able to go to parties and what not.
Carter has a ton of heart. - jak521
Did you go to these parties when your contractually obligated team was playing in the playoffs? Probably Not. You were more than likely able to maintain the status quo of your life because you're not a pro athlete. He should have been taking in games and staying in the proper mindset.
He underperformed in the playoffs year after year after year, he coasted by on raw talent for too long, at what point will people realize that translates pretty directly to a lack of heart? How many times did you hear a story about 'How hard Carter's rehabbing' or 'Carter pressing to get back'? Once? Maybe?
I'm glad you recovered from your hip surgery well, but to draw a parrallel between the two is quite ridiculous, really. Guy was on the clock, and at McFaddens, and he wasn't tending bar.
He'll fit right in in Columbus. |

as per the Miami Herald, the panthers are looking at Huberdeau at the third pick, also rumored the panthers are dealing the third pick to another team for a signed player and a lower pick |

Flyers should be happy with Larsson. Just as good. - BradTardforGM
Landeskog is kind of like Voracek in his draft year... the allure of him being able to step in right away probably overrated him a bit, not to mention that both are EU's that played junior hockey and are advertised as playing a more North American style.
Larsson should go at #2, but Colorado loves the idea of Landeskog after they gave up Stewart. If by some miracle, the Flyers actually move up to #3, Larsson would be a huge coup. By the time Timo's contract is up, Larsson would probably be already able to step up and replace his minutes. |

I've been useless since yesterday afternoon - funmaster18
I have been mostly offline the last few days running errands, helping my wife (a teacher) put away her school materials, and playing with my son while doing the occasional resume email/online application. I received the Flyers emails on my phone at 11 last night (though they were received hours earlier). Crazy. |
