I agree. If I'm at 8, and Hamilton is there, he's probably my guy. Unless Strome is there. - Jsaquella
If Strome is there....absolutely. But I don't see the Isles passing on him. I hope I'm wrong.

If Murphy were even two inches taller, he could have been a candidate to go first overall. There's risk in picking him, but major offensive D upside. I wouldn't be upset if the Flyers kept the 8 and rolled the dice on him. - bmeltzer
Yea, his skill set is reminiscent of a Doughty type of player. Just needs a few more inches, but we've seen kids even on the blueline succeed in the new NHL with very little size. I really like him. |

Odd. I think Leafs fans need to start seriously questioning some of Burke's moves.
I haven't been a fan of his acquisitions whether it be Phaneuf, Komisarek, or Kessel. - LeachHextall27
Me, either. So far his best move was rolling the dice on Clarke MacArthur |

Carle is very solid in his own zone. He needs to limit his turnovers, certainly, but he's a solid, young defenseman who can contribute at both ends of the ice. You're wrong about him, like most people on these boards. - LeachHextall27
He had a very bad playoffs, looked shell shocked out there.
So did most of the team.
Maybe the cap savings from yesterday is a way to keep both Coburn and Carle longer term. That would be a smart move, imo.

JML had 157 blocks. 60 hits. 36 GVA, 32 TKA, 67 Missed shots. 6 goals with a 3.7 shooting %. Only -9 on a very bad Colorado team.
Carle had 157 blocks. 50 hits. 59 GVA, 33 TKA, 55 Missed shots? I was thinking 90. had an amazing 0.9 shooting %. And Caarle folds under pressure a lot, and gives the puck away. I think JML is better IMO. |

I don't think they're due for big raises.
Plus, the cap will increase again next season according to reports. |

Everyone is waiting to see what Oilers do. If they keep the 1st pick, they likely take Nugent-Hopkins, and then we'll see who wants Larsson or Landeskog the most. Teams that want one of those two might not want RNH because he's small. |

Carle positions himself a lot better than Liles in his own zone, and is a more consistent player as a result. Both are good outlet passers, and while Carle had a significant amount of turnovers, I believe he led the league in 5 on 5 points amongst defenseman this season. He's also younger and has a better cap hit.
Give me Matt.

I concur. I want to keep Bob for now unless he helps us move up in the draft. |
