This is a business. Business is based on lies and broken promises sometimes. Maybe if Carter didn't stroll into holmers office in sandals with booze on his breath. He would still be here
- Just5

Has there been a report that Carter did that?

he got fired for not producing at work

he only has himself to blame

homer is not to blame at all

- 2Real

If Carter got "fired" for not producing at work, the United States would have about a 97% unemployment rate.

I think they understand it's a business, but those guys laid it all out there for this franchise on the ice. They played hurt, and played very well majority of the time.

I'm not going to buy into any of the off ice or locker room stuff, because I don't know what the deal is with that, and no one outside of the Flyers locker does either.

I'm not condemning the trades I have an open mind about how they can improve the team, that being said I'm not thrilled with the way these guys were treated. I think they deserved a little more respect from the front office for their service.

i think the way the team played from February on through the boston series had a major part in homer's 180 degree spin around.
All I'm hearing points to information we are not privy to. Team's don't just trade their two faces of the franchise out of nowhere. this was calculated.

Yea, like the way they treated Gagne leading up to his trade.

There are two sides to every story and usually somewhere in the middle lies the truth. I can understand Carter not being happy landing in Columbus. OSU certainly has some nice scenery, but actually not a hockey hot bed.

Somewhere along the line, the organization got sick of something involving these two. We as fans probably will never know.

Yep, and when Holmgren tries to get Giroux or JvR to take an extra year or two to lower the cap hit, and promises not to trade them, I bet they laugh at him.

To me, that is the worst part of this. Those guys were not treated that well in this whole thing.

It's a cautionary tale for anyone who is negotiating with the Flyers in future. There is absolutely no reason for Giroux or JVR to give up even one moment of free agency in their next deal. They should hold the Flyers feet to the fire. On their RFA year, they should sign just to their UFA year so they get the max they can. No cap friendly stretched out deals to stay here, because someone who is younger and talented will be the next guy to make you expendable.

I'm really glad to read comments like this, because I think it's true.

the biggest issue I have is that one year ago, they felt strong enough about Carter to sign him to an 11 year deal. Same for Richards on a 12 year deal 2 years ago. They go to the Finals in 09/10. And one disapointing Season and they slam on the breaks, say woa, we need to go in the other direction and make a complete U turn. Doesn't make sense to me. If they're worried about the long term financial deals, they just signed a 31 year old player to a 9 year deal. Doesn't make sense to me to trade for Pronger, sign Bryzgalov, then do this.

I know this is a media real time world we live in with twitter, and all the social networks, but Richards said in an interview this morning he found out he was traded via a text message from the Hockey News.

I don't care how you slice it, that's weak sauce.

I understand he's an athlete and makes millions of dollars, but how would any of use who work regular 9-5 jobs like finding out we lost our job, or were transferred via text message? It would suck.

Let's face it, money talks. The Flyers show them the money they will be shaking Homer's hand and thanking him. Of course, after they know the NTC clause is in the contract also, which is effective immediately.
