Srsly though Crims I do a sketch first all the time. I make a stick man then quickly make the shapes, check to see if I've lined things up in the proper spot, take a break, come back and look at it with fresh eyes and then continue once I'm happy.

That's the whole reason I've been able to improve quickly.

Eventually after doing this enough times I will be able to drop the sketching phase but that's a long way off.

And frankly, I don't think my proportions and positioning have been that bad. I think Dave is beating me because her shading is 1000 times nicer and her lines are crisper.

I do not draw. I did quite often when I was a kid, lotta goalie drawings.

Um, thus far I'd have to say yours are superior...better shading would help, but I don;t know if it would put him over the top.

as in, u r not useless by any means and u should keep going as ur talented, but to be frank, this is something i'm very good at. guarantee u could shred me on guitar and math and probably any number of other things... but drawing.... i am pretty good.

i once did a majestically bad painting of ron hextall for an art project in high school. it was one of those deals where you build a textured picture using that poop they make casts out of when you break your wrist masturbating (or any other bone doing any other thing).

anyway, i built up my background and then painted it and it looked horrible. just (frank)ing terrible.

they gave me my grade (i don't remember, but it couldn't have been more than a C), i took the thing with me, and on my walk home i threw it in a trash can on the side of the street.

don't you know that at some later date i walked into one of those middle eastern-run convenience stores to buy cigarettes or whatever, and sure enough, behind the counter, there is my painting proudly displayed on the wall.

Oh yeah I was being sarcastic about the uselessness just to continue the tone of his post.

You're definitely good at drawing. I never suggested you weren't. When I say something like I don't think the structure of my drawing is right out and I find you're beating me heavily in the shading and clarity department, that's the opposite of me suggesting I'm better than you. Like I said, the way you textured Hobby was gorgeous. I have no clue how to do that.

My advice to Crims wasn't intended to suggest I'm some master either. But as a beginner, I can't imagine trying to draw these things without building a skeleton and pasting shapes on it. If I did it piece by piece, it would look something like Crims' Ultron (no offense crims).

That said I'll kick your ass with Dr Strange. YOU'LL SEE.
