You could be right but when I sit down to draw something I find my problem is getting a cool pose to show up, not really spending time tinkering on details.

I feel like I should become very good at getting to this point:

yes.... but i don't know how easy that is to get to unless you spend some time drawing musculature over the skeleton... not necessarily going to minute detail on falling rocks

Exactly so I feel like I should draw the contstruction lines and the basic muscles and then forget about shading the thing and drawing squiggles on Strange's coat and move on to the next one over and over.

thought the squiggles might be tough but they weren't at all
i have made a lot of progress today

also shading only comes with practice practice practice...

but in general i think doing tons of action sketches could only be good in the long run for mood and movement.

but you'll still have to practice all the nitpicky stuff at some point as well

Nitpicky stuff doesn't scare me as much as proportions, action lines and shapes for some reason.

ya they only help for those angles that are hard to visualize
