That is terribly sad.
That guy pound for pound was as tough a fighter as they come. |

I never said otherwise
But in my opinion Richards and Carter were worse then a locker room cancer, they were locker room aids and they drank way too much. Sometimes in the locker room... - Schenn2shine

Jvr, Briere, Giroux, and to a lesser extent Jagr and Voracek have to carry the scoring load now. If any of those guys get hurt or under performs they might have trouble making the playoffs. - Marc D
Lucky for us we have Schenn and Nodl to fall back on if any get hurt or under perform. We also have the sleeper player of the year, Mr. Scott Hartnell. Im expecting big things out of him this season. |

Man, such a shame. Knew he was battling demons, but had hoped he had managed to get them behind him. Hopefully he's at peace now. |

Few quick thoughts on the whole thing, one final time. Enjoy, criticize, ignore...have at her
-Richards and Carter were the two biggest names moved, but they were just 2 of 10 guys that were jettisoned. Regardless of the issues, they did not begin and end with Mike Richards and Jeff Carter.
-Despite receiving fair returns for both guys, and for Versteeg, I'm not writing either guy off. Richards, in particular could have a very big season. He'll be on a solid second line, no pressure to be the face of the team, and in a comfort zone with Stevens, Murray and Gagne around. Carter's best statistical season as a NHLer came on a line with Hartnell and Lupul-neither of whom is an especially gifted playmaker. If he finds chemistry with Nash, he could have a great season.
-Whatever the reasons, and I'm on record as feeling they are both on and off ice related, they're the past. Whatever led to the trades, I wish most of the guys who are not returning well in their new cities, especially Richards and Carter...short of beating the Flyers. |

I don't feel anyone here has been really bashing Carter or Richards, I just feel that fans would like to know the real reasons that saw them get traded. Simple! Nobody needs to get defensive or up in arms over the opinions of others. We as fans don't have the right to know why they were really traded but we do have the right to wonder why they were traded and discuss it. |

We do have that right, but in the end it's immaterial. They're not here any longer, and we all hope that the guys brought in can make the Flyers a better team. |

I just don't understand how 'person A' could give an opinion and then 'person B' could just come out and say that 'person A' is wrong just because 'person B' says so. No real reasons as to why 'person A' is wrong, just because 'person B' feels he has that power. This doesn't make for very good conversation or debate. |

God. This is freaking me out. 27 seems like the number to die at...
My goal for if I am a pro athlete, or celebrity, will be to make it past the age of 27. Then I should be fine. |

Yes but is it good conversation or bad conversation? I was under the impression that opinions were just that opinions. |

Your absolutely right. Life goes on and so with this organization. Homer tried to assemble the best team that fits the NEEDS of the Philadelphia Flyers. Some moves may be questioned (happens everywhere) and others people like. Will soon find out how good this team will be this upcoming season. I personally like the moves and expect a very competitive team out on the ice throughout the year. |
