This is all on Gomez. First of all, if he would've stayed in NJ for less than the insane contract he got in NY, he wouldn't have as much pressure, he'd be playing with Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta (obviously just Gionta isn't enough), and he's have a lot more success than he's had since leaving NJ. I'd keep him for 27mil/6 years, a 4.5 cap hit.. which is decent, especially at the time of the deal, 4.5 was then what 5.5 is today. He was a good #1 center playing with Elias, but NY paid him like he was Pavel Datsyuk and he went for the money. Too bad.

Montreal all canadiens dont have anything more valuable as far as prospect otherwise to even offer the isles for that big of salary dump.

Gomez 3 years with 7.4MM year. yeah no thanks. Unless you guys offer to take DiPietro.

If this happens MTL could be one heck of a team. They badly need to shed that salary. I hope they have to give up more just to dump Gomez and take back a bad contract. Gomez must be one of the least tradable players in the NHL today (yes, that is a made up word).
