I don't really think he's that special (no pun intended) of a coach. I think his SB is more fluky than him being really good. With the exception of a short stretch during the playoffs, he's been unable to put together a competent offense or recruit a good offensive coordinator.

I have more confidence in Doug being able to develop Wentz than Harbaugh. Doug was also able to get one of the better free agent defensive coordinators, which bodes well for the future. That's really an underrated aspect of coaching tbh. Chip could never get anyone to join his staff, so his defenses were always bad. His player personnel guys weren't very good either. No one wanted to coach for him.

I think Harbaugh is an ok head coach, but he's not worth blowing up the foundation for. Theres really only one coach worth doing that for and he's never going to leave New England.

Once Wentz was named starter and we knew Lane was going to be out 10 games, I think everyone assumed this team would finish with anywhere from 4-9 wins. I still think 8 wins seems pretty likely. The 3-0 start clouded everyone's judgement. Remember that two of those wins came against the Browns and the Bears. The rest of the Eagles Schedule has been brutal. They went 3 straight weeks playing teams coming off byes. The Bengals will be the first weak opponent since playing the Bears.

Doug deserves a little more patience and an opportunity to work a whole summer with Wentz (he does need to refine his elongated throwing motion).

i'm not saying hang the guy. i'm just afraid that he's fine as the quality control guy andy made him into but not head coach material.

i'm not disagreeing with anything you're saying. i'm just afraid this guy isn't cut out for it and that even when they fill out the thin areas talent-wise he might just hold them back.

it works in dallas where i consider garrett a joke and a dope but that's a lot of talent there. and any other owner would have fired garrett before this.

belichick, payton, tomlin, carroll are probably the only current coaches i would include in the top tier. and honestly, tomlin might only be in there because i like him.

I don't have anyone except Belichick. There are a bunch of good coaches, but none in his class and none I'd characterize as elite.
