I think there might be something to the Gunnarson trade rumors based on his play last night. Up to this point I think he has been one of the best Leaf Dmen, but last night he made a number of mental errors. Seems that something is on his mind.

Did anyone else notice that Kessel seemed to be pretty preturbed by Kadri?
There was a play earlier in the game where Kessel had to delay at the Sens blueline and Lupul (I think it was Lupul) was able to make a move to stay onside, but Kadri blew the line and went offside. Kadri was in a position where he should have been able to hold the line, and if he did Kessel would have had the jump on the Sens D.
Kessel looked pissed after the play and when they skated to the bench Kessel wouldn't even look at Kadri right next to him, who was looking at him like a puppy who peed on the floor. I noticed again later in the game that Kessel looked off Kadri and instead took a low percentage shot instead of trying to get the puck to Kadri, who was in a better scoring position. I know the plan is not for them to play together (at this point at least), but just wondering if anyone else noticed this.

I still don't see how so many people are putting Frattin ahead of Kadri at this point though. Either on their current play or potential.

I think it has become clear to all that the Grabo line has been able to pick up where they left off, however Mac is IMO not on the level of Grabo or Kuli. I think RW should use the last couple preseason games to try Kessel with Kuli and Grabo, and putting Mac with Connolly and Lupul. I think eventually Mac will be replaced with Kadri.

Reimer has looked a little shaky at times so far but came up when it mattered. I hope they have not locked in that he will play 60+ games this year though, as I think The Monster has looked pretty good so far and seems intent on pushing Reimer.

Last night was definitely Lupul's best game so far. Schenn needs to pick his game up a bit. His footspeed has seemed slow so far (perhaps getting out of position a bit).

Liles looks to be a solid addition, but I'm confused why he and Franson were not switching sides on the PP?

Grabo better get an A this year. He is a heart and soul guy who will not be kept down. I'm wondering if the language issues and fact that he is already a little weird (pineapples?) help him in the 'quiet room'? Kid has taken some punishment and stayed in the game.

Kulimen is going to be a beast this year.

That is all.

Hahaha yeah that was funny. Tucker was always good for a laugh.

Neil has never been suspended. Darcy Tucker has. But Neil is worse, hardly. You leaf fans are so bias it's not funny.

The Neil hit was 100% intentional. He knew what he was doing and lined him up. The puck was also no where near them at the time.

Cool, it wasn't just me.

I play alot and I know when poop like that happens you usually talk about it on the bench to work the kinks out with your linemates, but Kessel seemed like he wanted nothing to do with Kadri....

darcy tucker stats: 947 GP - 476 points - 1410 PIM
playoffs: 68 GP - 21 points - 81 PIM

chris neil stats: 659 GP - 172 points - 1683 PIM
playoffs: 74 GP - 12 points - 131 PIM

please compare them more - tucker was way better all round, and not a goon.

Sometimes I'm embarrassed to be a fan of the same team as these blow hards...they are so biased. I think they forget the Darcy Tucker hit on Peca.....and I loved Tucker as a player.
I was going to point out to these winners...there's a reason Neil hasn't been suspended in his career yet. He hits hard but CLEAN.

i would be fine trying kessel with grabovski and kulemin, i just hope with that the mac/lupul/connolly combo worked, we NEEd 2 lines and third line that can play solid 2 way and score.

i still think the third line is going to be kadri-bozak-armstrong on opening night, mind you, that can and probley will change if and when Lombardi is ready.

I think Bozak is going to have a great year slotted in the 3C position. The kid was out of his depth as a 1C last year, but has grown his game (and his frame this offseason). I think Bozak would be able to perform as a 2C this year but the lines seem pretty set (and he has great chemistry with Armstrong).

Side note: I think Bozak could be a good chip in any attempt to get Statsny (obviously more would be involved, but they would probably want a servicealbe centre coming back). He did play all of his college hockey in Denver and would likely be open to playing there.
But, I think he will be a bit of a surprise bargain for the Leafs this year...

I would have taken Neil if we could have picked him up as a UFA. Definitely a Burke player.

But the hit was wrong, and he knew what he was doing.

Dude I never said Tucker was a goon. A Diver, a pest, but I never said or thought goon.

I wasn't comparing stats. I was comparing who was more of a dirty player on the ice, who crossed the line more, cheapshots and stuff. Who is more hated. I think thats Tucker. Hell I think Shanahan even got suspended for slashing Tucker, because he's a little dink.

And finally thats Pai Mei, and yes he's a magician of kicking arse.

Expected comeback from the likes of you.....would have been better if you actually debated something....like perhaps giving me a reason why Neil hasn't been suspended yet in his career?

I'm not as down as others on Komi. I think he will bounce back this season. But, when you're a shutdown guy, if we don't hear about you it's a good thing. That will make it hard for him to shake this image even if he does play well...
