It's okay. Kadri wouldn't have fit in on the 3rd line anyway. He's a top-six forward. It's just a matter of getting him to be defensively capable enough and smart enough to handle a top-six role. The skill is there but his mind isn't. Yet. - Unholy_Goalie
I believe he will get there honestly, Wilson's "cake" reference is actually a pretty good one when it comes to Kadri

Kadri is going to be in the lineup for the beginning of the regular season. Lombi may take his spot when he's ready but for now he stays. - A_Tree
If Kadri is in the lineup on opening day, the coaching staff gave him a free pass because he has not earned it. Frattin has not only played way better than he has but he's also built to play on the 3rd line much better than Kadri is.
Frattin, as of today, is the size and speed that Kadri would ideally play at. Unfortunately for Kadri, Frattin is older and better than him at the moment. If things go well, that will change but until it does, Kadri hasn't earned that spot yet.

First of all, fire Eakins. Second of all, lines aren't set in stone. The reality is, Colborne isn't good enough to be better than Zigomanis yet so Zigomanis would probably be the 1st line center (and captain). However, the idea is to have Colborne take that job (1st line center) from him in time. - Unholy_Goalie

did they name zigo captain? - Dozzer
There isn't anybody else there anywhere near his credentials. He's probably their best player, most experienced and the go-to guy. Makes perfect sense.

I didn't realize he was older too, it'll be interesting to see what the coaching staff decides to do with the two of them?

Kadri gets sent down and Frattin makes the team to start. When Lombardi is back to form, Frattin gets sent down too. Then, when the team starts it's usual fire sale, two or three roster spots open up and they get called up.

The difference being Zigomanis has a hope of being called up to the big club. - Atomic Wedgie
No he doesn't. The Leafs have six centers on the roster. Boyce, Dupuis and Lombardi would all play center before they'd call up Zigomanis. And so what if they called him up? He'd get five or six games and then be back with the Marlies.

Hamilton is a pretty good leader from what I read from some of the players last year, they seem to all like him. - LeafMan
Good for him. Give him an A. Give Zigomanis the C. They need reasons to keep him around because it's only a matter of time before he gets fed up with playing in the AHL and takes off.
