why would you ice a fourth line, the one relied on to do the hard checking and the provide the tough element with two guys both coming back from concussions?
that makes no sense to me. - Dozzer
Same reason they signed Komisarek. |

i agree, i know someone tweeted (I think it was hendricks) that lombardi was going to start on the 4th line to get back into it but that makes no sense to me. why would you ice a fourth line, the one relied on to do the hard checking and the provide the tough element with two guys both coming back from concussions?

True. I wouldn't even consider the 4th line as a viable option for him, if anything you may think 2nd line duties before you would consider 3rd. Obviously he must play first before you can say with certainty where he's going to be positioned.

To wherever they will pay him the most. I doubt he's made a lifelong commitment to the Marlies. At least if they slap the C on him, he feels like his career has meaning to it. - Unholy_Goalie
So Boyce and Dupuis are much better than Zigomanis.
Zigomanis is unwanted by any other NHL team (he cleared waivers).
He's from Toronto.
The Leafs are currently paying him $300,000 to play in the AHL.
And I'm supposed to stay up at night worrying he may take his game elsewhere?

i like the idea of using him as a thrid line winger. doesnt have to skate into the concussion danger zone that is the middle of the ice. working from the boards may be more physical, but ultimately its safer since there isnt as many "open ice" style hitting oppurtunities |

Zigomanis is unwanted by other teams in the NHL but it doesn't mean a European team wouldn't grab him if they could.
And Zigomanis is important to the younger guys we have with the Marlies. It's really good to have at least one guy like him and the more they can do to keep him there for the foreseeable future, the better. |

How does one jump without leaving their feet.
Watch the video again ....with some objectivity this time. - iLive4theLeafs
gone for a while but back and this is where I left, so...
50 second mark, sir. replay clearly shows both feet off the ice before impact. Right foot is up and jumps up into the hit off his Left foot. He's not touching the ice when he makes contact with Hedman.

It'll take a while for him to get his legs back, but I think Lombardi will eventually move his way up the depth chart to a scoring role. 53 pts for the super defensive coyotes is pretty impressive. Plus his speed might make him the best match for kessel |

He's a much better skater than army and bozak, I'm not sure how that will work out for him.

Just because he signed this year doesn't mean he'll do it every year until he retires. Whatever incentives they can throw at him to keep him for the next two or three years, they should do it. Added to the fact that he actually deserves the captaincy and it makes perfect sense. |
