But, in saying it should have been penalized, you're saying that it was an illegal hit.
To the head.
On a player without the puck who had no reason to suspect a hit was coming.
Isn't that strikes one, two, and three under Shanny's new standards? - Leeman4Gilmour
not all hits to the head are suspendable though, some only get the minor penalty, based on your argument phaneuf should of been suspended for the hit in the first preseason game
related - am I the only one embarrassed by Phaneuf's girlish squacking on the ice. Man he's got a womanly voice.
When Grabo stole the puck and scored the Shorty, you can here Phaneuf yell "ya you got it Grabo" and it sounds like his mom is yelling it from the stands - Big_Lightnin
Really? I didn't notice. Do you have the link for that?

This is why I said we just leave it alone. Until this becomes a reoccurring thing (for that player) there's not much to say.

Under Shanahan rules, it maybe should have. I'm really not cut up about the Neil hit at the end of the day. Thankfully, Grabo was fine and we can go on with business as usual.
But I do think that Shanahan drawing so much attention to himself with these major suspensions raises the stakes. His level of consistency is going to be scrutinized even more than Campbell's was.
Is it the voice at the 4ish second mark you're refering too?

ya that's it
and that was actually a bit deeper than usual, but that's Dion. I've actually seen his mouth moving on a few of them and now every time I hear him I just shake my head.

He simply got away with one, end of story. The hit was questionable - but clearly inconclusive. Maybe he positioned himself in a way to draw no-fault, or maybe he wasn't paying attention (neither was grabo). There is no point of arguing this one. If we see repeats of this hit with calls + suspension, then we worry. - A_Tree
Yeah, I can live with that assessment.
If we start to see more of these "accidentally on purpose" hits going unpunished, I'd start to be concerned that players aren't learning to clean up their act, they're merely learning how to be more clever about hiding it.
