I think it was code for 'he'll be dead'.
So has preseason changed your opinion at all about Komi making the top 6? Still a couple of games left and Gunnar and Aulie didn't look especially good last night but it seems that the tide is working against Komi a little bit.
Anybody see the Sportsnet interview with Dennis Potvin? He said that Liles and Franson have been the Leafs best d'men in preseason. Not sure I agree but interesting view. - The Law
that will probably make him a better player lol
as for the leafs defense, i stand by my statement that Komisarek will be the 5th guy unless Burke moves him. As for the best d-man, I would say gunnarsson personally
It wasn't you, you seem to be always respectful around here, just the way it is here, you make a suggestion or opinion and you get ridiculed for it at times, I always or try always to say "I think" or "in my opinion" I don't speak for all Leaf fans and try not to give an opinion as fact, I try to keep it to just me. - LeafMan
I will say that the respect level has improved in the last 3 or 4 years.

I think so too. He had a bad 1st period last night but I'll cut him some slack b/c it was a new partner and it's gotta take some time to adjust to playing with Dion. I really haven't noticed Franson that much ....that might be a good thing. I think RW might stick with those top 4 now Gun-Pha and Lil-Sch. I assume Gardiner goes down unless a trade happens so that leave Aulie-Franson-Komisarek battling for 5-6-7. Aulie's the only lefty in the group. It'll be interesting to see who Komi gets paired with Friday.
Brendan Shanahan has kind of worked himself into a bit of a jam with his tough (perhaps over-the-top in some cases) suspensions.
Now the precedent is set that an illegal hit gets an automatic suspension - a severe one at that - and if he deviates from that benchmark at all, he will be slammed for inconsistency. He'll eventually be demonized even worse than Campbell... although Campbell did deserve the flak he took.
But if he continues to go with the 3-8 game route for every illegal hit, then people will get sick of it. Heck, I'm already getting sick of it and the season hasn't started yet.
With the way Shanny is calling it, there could very well be a suspension per day all season long. I understand deterrence, but there's also such a thing as desensitization. - Leeman4Gilmour
This is kind of the point. EVERY illegal/dangerous hit SHOULD be suspended. Who gives a (frank) if people get sick of it. Once the players figure out what's allowed and what's not, they either change the way they hit, or get suspended longer and longer. Either way, you get the bad hits out of the game, which is exactly his intention.

i agree with this, players will learn to adjust
but typically people will come down on shanny if he gives out a lighter suspension to someone else... a players past record does come into play as well, its not soley based on the offense itself

and people were trying to tell me orr is no longer needed
guys like neil are exactly why orr is needed - Dozzer
No, guys like Neil is why you sign a guy who's existence on the team you don't care about, with the sole purpose of the 1 shift he'll play in the NHL- which if things go well, will be the other guy's last shift.

Why? Orr never cheapshots people back, Neil won't fight him and it's not like Orr can just start a fight if Neil doesn't want to. What good will him being there do? He wouldn't even be on the ice to retaliate.
Kypreos says the league is leaning towards none. Everything Neal does is intentional and every one should know it by now. - LeafMan
Agree with you there. It was obviously intentional. He should get a suspension.
Still think Kadri out played Frattin... again. He was in a much more difficult spot playing centre with Kessel... then playing along the boards with Armstrong.
Kadr much more of a offensive threat and if he plays with Bozak and Armstrong he can provide more skill to that line than Frattin will. Kadri assisted on the first goal, put a good screen on the goalie which change Liles mind for passing to shot, which then got the Leafs going.
He's also 2-3 years younger.
IMO - putting Kadri back in the AHL this year will slow his mental development for the NHL game.

I was too ....Truism #1 - do not take anything serious that 'The Law' types. - The Law
not taking this seriously means that I should take you seriously. but if I should take you seriously, then this says that I shouldn't take you seriously.
