And if he's better now(and it is an if), don't you think it's wrong to keep him imprisoned? And if you have no intention of ever releasing him, why bother with treatment at all?

I can see the other side, don't get me wrong. What if he relapses, and kills more people? That's obviously the worst case scenario, and a pretty dire one at that... and since neither of us are doctors, I think we need to defer to their judgement as to whether or not he can ever fully reintegrate to society.

If they feel he can, I think it'd be wrong to keep him locked up- that's all I'm saying.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty confident saying that the incredibly high majority of mentally ill/schizophrenic population are highly unlikely to ever kill someone. I'd expect the likelihood he'd do it again is incredibly low.
