Personally? Nope. Doesn't matter to me where the team is.

For the franchise I do think there's some mild concern, but the belief is that there are at least two local investors willing to take on the team once Karmanos actually wants to sell it. The city/county/state/team are investing more in the arena and new practice facilities, so I would think that's a decent indicator that it's staying put for the forseeable future.

Fair enough, it certainly doesn't seem to have the same feel the Thrashers situation did, I think it's Karmanos bizarre plan to sell but still have controlling interest or whatever that is making it difficult for him right now. I'd be pretty surprised if nobody came forward to buy at some point, they have a pretty sweetheart lease from what I've read.

Karmanos put up almost as much money for the construction of the arena as he did to buy the team in the first place.

They pay the lease to the county, who in turn pays them to operate the arena, and NC State pays to use it for their basketball games. Everybody is invested in keeping the team there at this point, really.

And you're right, it seems like Karmanos being a dumbass is the only thing keeping the team from being sold. He really will only sell it right now if somebody overpays.

The National Hockey League announced today that it has granted an expansion franchise to Las Vegas. The franchise, which will begin play in 2017-18, was approved in a unanimous vote by the League’s Board of Governors during a meeting today in Las Vegas.

Ownership of the Las Vegas franchise will principally reside with Bill Foley. The franchise will play its home games in the recently opened, state-of-the-art T-Mobile Arena, which has a hockey capacity of 17,368.

The Las Vegas franchise will pay a $500-million expansion fee. That fee then will be distributed in equal shares to each of the NHL’s 30 presently existing clubs.
