Herring are just large sardines as far as I'm concerned lol. Taste is the same as long as they are prepared the same way. Mackerel too for that matter.

Canned Mackerel, Sardines, and Herring in tomato sauce. Correctly identify all three by taste and smell alone and I will rethink my current theory.

one thing we can easily agree on though is that all three are extremely healthy choices both in terms of general foods and in terms of fish selection.
