kicksave856,

this morning on the drive to school we were listening to TSN690 and it was quiz time.

the award was a pair of tickets for the Australian Pink Floyd show.

The quiz is usually pretty laid back and today's question was "name a great band"

the contestants were George and I think the other contestant was also named George since it's usually just greeks from laval who call in.

anyway they started off pretty weak with U2 and then it got stronger with Led Zeppelin and Pink FLoyd and the likes but there was some lame poop thrown in like Green Day which they considered a no-brainer even though they suck poop.

Then some dude busts out Radiohead and they nix it, Starr said they were overrated and only had one good album to which McKenna had no reply other than "but... but.. ok computer" anyway I don

one of the Georges busts it out... Aerosmith.

there was an awkward silence on the air and in the car.

the tension as palpable.

it's a pretty poop radio station and it's hard to imagine how it could get any worse but for once kicksave 856... for once, they got it right.

the NOPE buzzer went off and I was able to draw breath again...

it went back to the other Geroge who hit a homer with Queen and won the tickets.

it`s a very dumb game hosted by very amateur staff on a radio station that barely gets more listeners than a high school station but in Montreal it`s what passes for sports radio so deal with it

History is a very long time.
- Streit2ThePoint

Long before Alexander the Great took over most of the middle east, another greek general, Xenophon was retreating with his mercenary army, after the Persian king he was hired to fight for was killed. He made camp at a great city that had been abandoned, and wrote about how nothing he had ever seen could compare to this city, and even then, thousands of years ago, knew that it was an ancient city. The most striking thing is that this city was larger than any that existed in Greece, and he wrote about how an entire phalanx could fit within the thickness of the walls.

Even in ancient times people had the concept of ancient civilizations.

While Hellenism did have contact with cannabis, it was used mainly for medicinal purposes, and rope. It did see use in the cult of Asclepius as incense, but it's doubtful that Xenophon or his men, all warriors, would be part of the cult of the god of healing.

And if they had, the concept of smoking at 4:20 every day would not have taken root yet, as they did not have the same measure of time that we do, so they wouldn't have called it 420.

pengal came and got me and took me to the first so long thread.

it was before so long gerry. it was a thread saying goodbye to some other blogger that i'd never even heard of.
